The Streets of Ipoh

So last weekend a group of us from Shutter Asia headed out to Perak for a weekend away from the city, the occasion was the 1st anniversary of the forum!

We were staying at Cinta Alam Kelimat Eco Village, nearby Sungai Siput.

A short stop at Ipoh on the way for some food and street photography! It's a great old city so it's good to capture some of the details and faces there.

A Walk in Kampung Baru

A little while ago a bunch of us took a trip down to Kampung Baru to do a little street photography and take in some of the excitement over the elections in one of the remaining Kampung settlements in KL.

It was Kim's first street photography trip and she did really well! Dree also joined us.

The light wasn't great as it was overcast - meaning fairly flat light giving a natural lack of contrast and saturation. It was ok though, just warming up for many more great street photo journeys into our city of Kuala Lumpur.

Hoping to get to know the city better, and document it to share with others around the world.

BN over PAS

BN Over PAS

There was two parties dominant in Kampung Baru, BN and PAS - didn't see anything from any of the others.

This fellas face was plastered everywhere, even this decrepit old table had no escape.

No Escape

There was some interesting details around Kampung Baru showing the urban decay.

And the lawless motorcyclists with no helmets...nonchalantly driving past police cars.

Lawless

PAS or Sun? I like the juxtaposition of the symbols in this one.

Time for some delicious Malay food in the middle of the shoot - I kena tourist price of course..

There were also some normal shops operating as usual.

And a stark contrast between the old and the new.

Old and New

Shortly after we finished eating a torrential downpour occurred...which cut our outing short. We then buggered off to Starbucks where we spent the rest of the night pissing in the wind :)

yeah! yeah! yeah! yeah!

A pig blow job on a wall in Jakarta.

Pig Blow Job YEAH YEAH

Beat that?

Is it as cool as Spiderpig? I'm not sure...but it's close!

Taken in a traffic jam in Jakarta during a recent trip.

Traffic jams are extremely common there, obscene graffiti however is not.

Taken with my E61i!

I don't really get the message if there is one though, pigs deserve oral loving too?

Anak Anak Jalan

I was in a Jakarta for a few days a week or so ago to sort out a couple of issues, I had a couple of hours spare so I took my prime lens and went for a walk around the streets of Jakarta.

This beautiful child caught my attention staring at me, with no fear in her eyes she looked at me with curiosity.

Anak Anak Jalan

I really love this picture.

Singapore - Little India

After visiting Bugis Street I proceeded on to Little India, which is located just behind around Jalan Besar.

There's a Little India MRT station so you can get off there if you wish to visit. It's a very vibrant area with a lot of colours, sights and smell. With hustle and bustle everywhere, even better during the time I was there was Deepvali, so it was lit up very nicely too.

As you can see it was quite hazy while I was there..

Happy Deepvali

A Walk Through Worcester Back Streets

So after the cathedral I had a walk through the deserted streets of Worcester City center.

There weren't many people around as it was a weekday afternoon and it was getting towards the time when the shops close...yeah 5.30pm

Shocking eh!

I had a walk through the oldest part of Worcester near the city wall, Friar Street. It contains a lot of grade I and II listed Tudor period buildings.

Enjoy!

A Trip to Worcester City Center & The Cathedral

You can't beat starting the day with a nice egg and bacon sandwich with freshly made homestyle wholemeal bread and a dribble of HP Sauce.

Bacon & Egg Sandwich

The weather wasn't great in the morning so I just hung around at home, had some light lunch and headed into the city.

Planning to check out the cathedral and perhaps a walk down the river, the river garden was closed though.

Bought a couple of things, but the sales are coming to the end, so not much to get.

I did a bit of street photography whilst I was hanging around.
