Life…pain….hurt….teeth and gems.

Ok…well I haven’t really written anything serious on this blog yet, I mean there are 2-3 posts I think so far in very general terms..this one will be a lot more personal and probably a lot more disjointed. Be warned, it’s likely to be long.

You’ll have to bear with me I’m afraid..I’d also guess this will get none or very few comments as those meaningful topics seem to get none..and those bullshit topics seem to get loads 😛

Anyway, on to life, teeth and gems..I am pretty exhausted now too, I haven’t had enough sleep this week and it’s taking it’s toll, actually I should be asleep now, but well I just felt like posting some of the random swirls of nonsense clouding up my mind. Some people say I’m wise beyond my years, I have no idea…sometimes I feel that way sometimes I dont, you can read what I have to say and form your opinion, you are more than entitled to it.

Onto life…life is strange, when it’s crappy it’s really crappy, seriously..The cliched adage “When it rains it pours” is so true. When it rains it’s fucking torrential, it unleashes the most miserable hell fury possible. When you are down in life most people kick you, tread on you or the most common just act plain apathetic and pass you by like you don’t exist. This is human nature, this is what we’ve evolved into, this is why we’ve become the top of the food chain?

I’m sorry but fuck that it’s bullshit.

People need to start caring about themselves (no not how much money they earn or what car they drive), the people around them and society as a whole..if one of your friends is in trouble, lend some support, give them a friendly face to look at, give them some kind words to digest, be there for them. It doesn’t cost anything but time, don’t underestimate the value of good friends.

I am thankfully fortunate to have a great set of friends who really care for me, who were there for me every day when I needed them and said and did the right things. You all know who you are and I can never thank you enough for that. Suffice to say I’ve had a really shitty time recently, it’s passing over now..mostly thanks to the support I got.

My time is Brunei has give me a lot of space to think, to collect my thoughts to sort my life out and get back on track..To contemplate who I was, who I am now, where I was and where I want to go..I was on some kind of track long ago but I got trapped, I got tunnel vision, I didn’t have any way to escape, I realise that now…*sigh* 20/20 hindsight is a powerfully frustrating and useless thing. Life twists and turns…It’s no good being on the right track if you just sit there and do nothing….as with my post previously, don’t just sit and let your life pass by, don’t let yourself be unhappy to make someone else happy…because at the end of it, ultimately you will both end up unhappy, resenting each other and all fucked up. Don’t take anything for granted, because the next moment it could be gone, everything could be shattered. Appreciate the people around you, thank them for what they do…do something for them without expecting something in return.

This may sound like doom and gloom, but I would like to say whatever you may think, however reserved you may feel..dare to fail, there is nothing worse than not trying at all, you may regret it forever, at least if you try and fail, you know you gave it your all, no regrets, no lingering thoughts, no headfucks. This also boils down to if you are going to do something, do it, don’t hedge your bets just incase, because you want an easy way…following this, if you say you’ll do something, please please do it…words are easy to say, but they mean a lot to some people. Above all if you make a promise, a real true promise, keep it…

Everything is a balance, yin and yang, dark and light, we have to feel pain to enjoy please and all that, it’s all cheesy yet true..there is a balance in the Universe in some strange way, if not it would have self-combused or imploded years ago. There is Karma, although most of the time it doesn’t feel like it, we even somehow believe in it in the west with sayings such as “What goes around comes around“. Most the time life just feels unfair, “Lifes a bitch, then you marry one then you die“..In saying this though, too many people bitch about their lives, moan about menial everyday crap like it’s the end of the fucking world, I’m sorry but get a grip…you don’t know what hardship is, honestly you don’t have the faintest idea..(In saying this I’m not trying to claim that I do, just that I appreciate that I have it pretty good, I don’t have to live in some famine struck part of Africa, fight for water and watch 3 out of my 5 children die before they can walk..)

Sometimes we spiral down, sometimes we float up, I hit a plateau so I tried to change things, I gave up everything familiar and comfortable, everything known and tested, everything safe and secure and I got kicked in the teeth for it. That fucking hurts, it hurts beyond anything I could previously comprehend. I got kicked in the teeth then stamped on..everything else was fine apart from what mattered most..but the clouds have been blown away and the sky is clearing again. I think I was blind, I think I was living a lie…I think I was in love with a memory. One lesson to be learnt, don’t be too soft, to malleable…don’t let memories and dreams cloud reality, don’t let emotion completely control everything..don’t give up your heart and soul for someone or something that doesn’t appreciate it.

Life is strange though, from what I’ve learnt in my few short years when you are on the floor bleeding and crying, with the reminants of your bloody kicked out teeth in your fingers you’ll probably find some kind beautiful diamond amongst the splintered shards of bone..These are the times it makes life seem worth living, during adversity there is always hope, please remember that, there is always hope..don’t ever completely give up. I have been on a long tiring journey, and I have reached my final destination…I have to admit, it’s no where near my expected destination, but nevertheless I am here…and it feels kinda good, I am free again, I am in the driving seat again, no one else is in control apart from me.

All in all I think life is good, life is what you make it, you get what you deserve..if you feel like you are getting a raw deal, take a good look in the mirror and see what YOU are doing about it. Thanks to those who chased the clouds away, thanks to those who helped me up when I was faltering…and thanks to you for putting me back on my feet. I am back, and I am good…life is a learning experience and we all have a past, it makes us who we are. I am glad who I am, even though ever since a young age it’s hurt like shit to get here..Maybe another day I’ll post something else like this, if anyone cares, if not I’ll probably post it anyway as it’s good to get it out. At the end of it all I hope to learn from my mistakes, but it’s easier to learn from others, so please learn from mine and at least try and digest what I’ve written.

I feel like I have to put the world to rights it’s getting pretty fucked up, look out for topics about religion, politics, malaysia, corruption, fat people and Americans..

This was truly philosophical pseudo-emotional wandering, Shaolin style. Disover thyself, it’s important. Big love to everyone.

Pet Peeves..chomping..STFU Noisy eaters…

Ok during a discussion last night I stumbled upon one of the few, rare gems in life that I abso-fucking-lutely hate with avengance.

Basically it’s like this….

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON’T MAKE NOISE WHEN YOU EAT.

Food is beautiful, eating is wonderful, it should be cherished and loved not noisily chomped on like some piece of neanderthal wooly mammoth steak.

The exact noise I’m referring to is that kind of lip smacking noise some people make when they chew…like *mnah mnah mnah*

I really really can’t stand it, it actually makes me livid to witness noise during mastication..

I can just about stand slurping…only just, it wont make me shove a chopstick in your eye, but that lip smacking noise…I’ll actually move table to avoid hearing that noise, it physically repulses me and makes me want to cause grevious bodily harm on the source of emanation..

If you keep eating noisily you will end up looking like this for sure:

Or if you don’t you will after you remove my foot from your mouth

*HAIYAAAAAAA* (The noise I make whilst delivering a deadly Bruce Lee style flying kick)

There is no need to make this noise and well it usually results from those redneck, back alley eaters that eat with their mouths open too…so if you catch yourself doing it, please stop..

I’m so glad no-one in my circle of friends does it..not often anyway, Suan does it occasionally, but after the look of death…she soon stops..

Yeah and please don’t talk with food in your mouth, the last thing I want to have to see, especially during my dinner, is your half chewed food…kthx

I’ll probably post a complete list of the stuff I hate one day…there’s not much actually, this is the only thing on this beautiful planet that actually makes me want to commit painful, bloody, violent crimes..

I think I might just add some random stuff here…last night I had Vietnamese Paikut Wong, it was good, something like a load of pork chops cooked in capital sauce.

I had some minging stomach ache yesterday aswell, was doubled up rolling around like an intoxicated monkey..Other than that, nothing much going on..

Shaolin is teh ENTP

According to Briggs Meyer..Jung version

https://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp

Introverted iNtuitive Thinking Perceiving

“Clever” is the word that perhaps describes ENTPs best. The professor who juggles half a dozen ideas for research papers and grant proposals in his mind while giving a highly entertaining lecture on an abstruse subject is a classic example of the type. So is the stand-up comedian whose lampoons are not only funny, but incisively accurate.

ENTPs are usually verbally as well as cerebrally quick, and generally love to argue–both for its own sake, and to show off their often-impressive skills. They tend to have a perverse sense of humor as well, and enjoy playing devil’s advocate. They sometimes confuse, even inadvertently hurt, those who don’t understand or accept the concept of argument as a sport.

ENTPs are as innovative and ingenious at problem-solving as they are at verbal gymnastics; on occasion, however, they manage to outsmart themselves. This can take the form of getting found out at “sharp practice”–ENTPs have been known to cut corners without regard to the rules if it’s expedient — or simply in the collapse of an over-ambitious juggling act. Both at work and at home, ENTPs are very fond of “toys”–physical or intellectual, the more sophisticated the better. They tend to tire of these quickly, however, and move on to new ones.

ENTPs are basically optimists, but in spite of this (perhaps because of it?), they tend to become extremely petulant about small setbacks and inconveniences. (Major setbacks they tend to regard as challenges, and tackle with determin- ation.) ENTPs have little patience with those they consider wrongheaded or unintelligent, and show little restraint in demonstrating this. However, they do tend to be extremely genial, if not charming, when not being harassed by life in general.

In terms of their relationships with others, ENTPs are capable of bonding very closely and, initially, suddenly, with their loved ones. Some appear to be deceptively offhand with their nearest and dearest; others are so demonstrative that they succeed in shocking co-workers who’ve only seen their professional side. ENTPs are also good at acquiring friends who are as clever and entertaining as they are. Aside from those two areas, ENTPs tend to be oblivious of the rest of humanity, except as an audience — good, bad, or potential.

Humm!

I am the visionary, inventor type apparently..

It’s so true in parts it’s unreal haha

Another version is HERE

ENTPs are fluent conversationalists, mentally quick, and enjoy verbal sparring with others. They love to debate issues, and may even switch sides sometimes just for the love of the debate. When they express their underlying principles, however, they may feel awkward and speak abruptly and intensely.

Oh so true..

We even have our own domain https://www.entp.org/

I bet the forum there is a fun place..if you love arguing anyway hahaha

The water situation erm…and dace!

Ok so class was ok today as normal…

I got back and wondered why the hell the car had moved, some kind of dodgy ghost business going on?

Then I noticed piles of stuff everywhere…hmm I thought, hmm indeed.

Where the car was once parked, now rests a hole.

Looks like they decided to properly fix the water..

Wooohoooo can finally shower propely, by the looks of things it wasn’t a problem with the pump, probably a leak or blockage.

After that I cooked myself some food…I was so happy when I got my Dace

I think this stuff is like marmite..you either love it or hate it..It’s kinda weird because I’m not a huge fan of fish and canned fish usually makes me retch (sardines, eww) because it’s well *TOO* fishy. It’s generally eaten with plain ‘juk‘ (rice porridge/congee) in Teo Chew styleee (pickled veges and all that).

Tonight it was savoured with a steaming bowl of mee sup.

Yum!

Shaving was accomplished today without any serious flesh wounds..it’s a revelation..

In a weird kind of mood today…a bit melancholy, introspective, contemplative..and happy in a subdued kind of way.

Looks like Colombo is on…*sigh* I will be with you again soon my dear KL and my dears in KL

On the up side it looks like I might get to do some real work, h4x0r the planet ya’ll!

Yes I am verbose…you’ll get used to it I’m sure 🙂

Rain, Mee and Me

Ok well like I said when it rains here it rains..I think it’s pretty much the same for the SE Asian region at the moment though as it’s Monsoon Season…so it’s damn hot most of the time and the rest of the time it rains..a lot..

At least it rains properly in this side of the world not that pussy drizzle crap you get in the UK, none of those depressing grey skies and damp, coldness that permeates into your bones. It’s either hot here or raining, it’s good, I like it 🙂

Went to Coffee Bean last night after class and surfed the web wireless style, pretty cool and much superior to staying at home. At least got a few ‘things’ to see…but goddamnit I got bitten to shit by the mosquitoes, must have been that funky smell thing I had going on.

I picked up (tar pau’d) some food on the way back, Hokkien Mee, it was pretty good.

Yes I know I post a lot of pics of food, I’m evil…but what to do here..

Makan, Minum, Tidur.. (Eat, Drink, Sleep).

After that went home and rejoiced that the water had returned…finally got to shower, but then realised…saying the water was back was kind of subjective…as to how you defined it, it was back in a very loose sense of the word..

IT WAS BACK WITH THE WATER PRESSURE OF FUCKING GNAT PISS

Ok so I showered under the dribble and felt infinitely better, at least I’m not carrying a cloud of funk with me now.

Other than that business as usual…still haven’t seen Bridget Jones 2…and heard Shutter is pretty good.

I also added some pics to the Photo Gallery finally, just some snaps of the house here and other things I’ve taken…I’ll do a photo tour of this place soon don’t fret.

Probably going to go to Limbang, not Miri as it’s much closer and I just need to chop my passport (and drink beer).

And it’s Wednesday…my least favourite day of the week, the last weekend is a long forgotten memory and the next weekend is not really close enough yet to anticipate..that’s my take on it anyway.

For breakfast this morning I was treated to some kind of Laksa/Mee Bandung Brunei style thing with potaties and it was pretty good.

I will attempt to concentrate enough to write something meaningful soon, promise..

I love you all *points* yes especially you.

Another weekend gone, another monday arrives..

Well here I am the weekend has gone…not that I can really differentiate the weekend from the week here.

I arrived home yesterday to find that the water had disappeared…joy oh joy, now I’m lonely bored AND I smell bad. I phoned the people that needed to be phoned and got through finally, apparently something *should* be done about it..fingers crossed.

After that sat around getting eaten by mosquitoes and thinking I should probably really go and eat something so I ventured out into the wildernes..

I went to the nearest shop I found and bought some stuff, I was overjoyed to find some cans of Dace in Black Beans..wonderful stuff

Following that I ventured into an area near by and grabbed some food, I had Wah Tan Hor…was pretty good, plenty of chilli padi 🙂

Went off home after that, went to bed later than I should and woke up later than I should…oh well such is life.

Popped off to McDonalds today for some quality fried chicken (Ayam Goreng, Pedas), also a mountain of fries..

The aftermath that resulted..

The pics were taken with the latest Nokia Communicator, yes people seriously do buy stuff the first day it comes out here..

Bought a couple more horror DVD’s aswell..

I was mentioned in Suans blog (again)…she’s so literal sometimes, it cracks me up.

Apart from that nothing much is happening, life is good in other ways 🙂

OMFG Hacking for JESUS?!? Hacker vs Cracker? Script Kiddiots and more..

A few Malaysia sites got 0wned hard this morning…by some group who’s ultra cheese tagline is ‘Hacking for Jesus’

Brother please…

The site in question is https://www.mada.gov.my/ if you visit around the time I posted this you’ll still see the real thing..

If not screenshot:

A lot of .my sites got whacked apparently by these guys, probably some lame mass defacement (lots of web sites on the same physical machines), check out Zone-H.

This kind of stuff also has a cheesy name, it’s called ‘Hacktivism‘ something to do with ‘Technopolitics’…

If you are going to deface pages (ultimate skiddy behaviour) at least admit why you are doing it, because of your stupid adolescent ego ok…no other reason.

A huge amount of it goes on, I classify it as new age graffiti, most of it is ugly pointless and ego based..but puhlease…not hacking for Jesus, that’s just plain WRONG.

I found out originally from my friend Dhillon at Hack in the Box.

Real hackers don’t deface web pages…actually the truly scary blackhat hackers are unheard of…no one even knows they exist..

They say 80% of fortune 500 companies still have unknown backdoors(covert entry channels unknown except to those who put them there).

Anyway this could turn into some long winded and setting the world to rights…so here we go. Prepare to be enlightened.

Hackers are not people who deface web sites (defacing means changing the content to a funny pictures, personal message or as in en vogue now a political message).

Hackers are people with a love of technology and in general how things work, they have inquisitive minds, curious souls and unlike most they need to know WHY and HOW things work..not just that they work.

The media often mislabels crackers as hackers..

To quote wikipedia, which sums it up pretty well:

Hacker is a term used to describe different types of computer experts. It is also sometimes extended to mean any kind of expert, especially with the connotation of having particularly detailed knowledge or of cleverly circumventing limits. The meaning of the term, when used in a computer context, has changed somewhat over the decades since it first came into use, as it has been given additional and clashing meanings by new users of the word.

Currently, “hacker” is used in two main ways, one positive and one pejorative. It can be used in the computing community to describe a particularly brilliant programmer or technical expert (for example: “Linus Torvalds, the creator of Linux, is a genius hacker.”). This is said by some to be the “correct” usage of the word (see the Jargon File definition below). In popular usage and in the media, however, it generally describes computer intruders or criminals. “Hacker” can be seen as a shibboleth, identifying those who use it in its positive sense as members of the computing community.

As you can see the negative term has crept into the media and is firmly taken hold..this annoys most of us in the ‘hacking’ community..

It is true there is a middle ground, some skills are used by people from both sides of the fence, but those running downloaded scripts from the net (script kiddies) without any comprehension of what they do should be spanked back to high-school and definately not given the respect worthy title of hackers.

I suggest reading the whole Wikipedia post if you are interested, it pretty much covers all bases, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hacker

There are also a few more classifications which you might have heard, Black Hat, White Hat and Grey Hat.

Black Hats are the ‘bad’ guys, doing malicious stuff, busting up networks and writing DDoS tools, they are still proper hackers, they are just on the wrong side of the law, Script Kiddies are by no means blackhat…they are just plain idiotic.

White Hats are the ‘good’ guys…security professionals, ethical hackers, whatever you want to call them, the people reaping the money in the security industry, some are excellent, most are not…more skill always lies on the Black Hat side in my experience..The good guys, as with anything are always playing catch-up. Mostly Hacking for fame, notierity, money, altruism or any non-malicious cause.

Grey Hats are the happy medium…perhaps a past in Black Hat activities…or some experience of malicious hacking, moved into the security industry in a professional role and cleaned up…or just undefined…somewhere in the grey wasteland between..I think I am regarded as being here.

There is another metric which is a basic 3-tier pyramid..at the top, the thin part is the elite, the super hackers, those few geniuses that discover new types of vulnerability, write tools like nmap, write the Linux Kernel and so on…then below this is a slightly bigger tier which contains people like me, talented sys-admins, skilled security professional, not super genius status…but good and generally respected…Then at the bottom is the largest part, far larger than the other 2 combined together many times over..this contains the dross, the script kiddies, the people that think having a MSCE makes them god..

I also love the Conscience of a Hacker, from Phrack Magazine…also known as The Hackers Manifesto, it’ll give you some insight into the real hacker mindset..

It’s something I identify with…it’s a beautiful piece of writing, and when I read it the first time I ‘tingled’ haha…I’ve bolded those lines that have been part of my life..

The Hackers Manifesto

Another one got caught today, it’s all over the papers. “Teenager Arrested in Computer Crime Scandal,” “Hacker Arrested after Bank Tampering”…

Damn kids. They’re all alike.

But did you, in your three-piece psychology and 1950’s technobrain, ever take a look behind the eyes of the hacker?

Did you ever wonder what made him tick, what forces shaped him, what may have molded him?

I am a hacker, enter my world…

Mine is a world that begins with school… I’m smarter than most of the other kids, this crap they teach us bores me…

Damn underachievers. They’re all alike.

I’m in junior high or high school. I’ve listened to teachers explain for the fifteenth time how to reduce a fraction. I understand it.

“No, Ms. Smith, I didn’t show my work. I did it in my head…”

Damn kid. Probably copied it. They’re all alike.

I made a discovery today. I found a computer. Wait a second, this is cool.

It does what I want it to. If it makes a mistake, it’s because I screwed it up. Not because it doesn’t like me…Or feels threatened by me…Or thinks I’m a smart ass…Or doesn’t like teaching and shouldn’t be here…

Damn kid. All he does is play games. They’re all alike.

And then it happened… a door opened to a world… rushing through the phone line like heroin through an addict’s veins, an electronic pulse is sent out, a refuge from the day-to-day incompetencies is sought… a board is found.

“This is it… this is where I belong…”

I know everyone here… even if I’ve never met them, never talked to them, may never hear from them again… I know you all…

Damn kid. Tying up the phone line again. They’re all alike…

You bet your ass we’re all alike…

We’ve been spoon-fed baby food at school when we hungered for steak…the bits of meat that you did let slip through were pre-chewed and tasteless.

We’ve been dominated by sadists, or ignored by the apathetic.

The few that had something to teach found us willing pupils, but those few are like drops of water in the desert.

This is our world now… the world of the electron and the switch, the beauty of the baud. We make use of a service already existing without paying for what could be dirt-cheap if it wasn’t run by profiteering gluttons, and you call us criminals.

We explore…
and you call us criminals.

We seek after knowledge…
and you call us criminals.

We exist without skin color, without nationality, without religious bias
and you call us criminals.

You build atomic bombs, you wage wars, you murder, cheat, and lie to us and try to make us believe it’s for our own good, yet we’re the criminals.

Yes, I am a criminal.
My crime is that of curiosity.
My crime is that of judging people by what they say and think, not what they look like.
My crime is that of outsmarting you, something that you will never forgive me for.

I am a hacker, and this is my manifesto.
You may stop this individual, but you can’t stop us all…after all, we’re all alike.

+++The Mentor+++

My area of hacking is information…I am information scientist, gathering it, adapting it, improving it, collaborating it, dissemenating it..I am also good at taking good things and making them better..I am a hacker in the kitchen, the living room and in the world of bits and bytes…

This post is far too long anyway, perhaps I shall continue this topic another day..it just started out about a simple web-page defacement…

Kung-Pow! The weekend and rain..

Ok well it rained like non-stop from one night to the next morning, so it was a pretty moist weekend (in more ways than one)..

Saturday I didn’t write anything, because well basically I didn’t do anything…I got home from class and slept 2pm-10pm, which was nice..

Got up and went for dinner somewhere half decent, had a mixed grill with black pepper sauce, yum!

Sunday I watched Kung-Pow: Enter The Fist

This is definate love/hate experience as signified by the IMDB perfect 5.0 score (900 10/10 and 800 1/10 with some inbetween)..

I thought it was hilarious, some kind of cheap ass feel stoners movie with a big budget for special effects..

It definately helps if you are a fan of old skool, badly dubbed no-plot cheesy kung fu movies..I used to collect them, my awesome VHS collection was the envy of my friends.

You know the types, absurd characters, no plots, amazing fight sequences, unheard of actors, Sunday afternoon junk food and hang-over material..

It made fun of the endearing aspects of these movies, horrible dubbing, weird sound effects and vocal noises, bad continuation (10 eyeballs for 4 guys?)..and so on.

After that I went out to grab some food with some students, it was cool, finally had some chinese food, sweet and sour chicken and boiled rice…normally I’d go for pork, but well you don’t get the option here..

It was good!

Tried to catch Bridget Jones aswell but it wasn’t showing, strangely there was no 11-ish shows last night, only 9.30 and no Bridget Jones, perhaps Friday was just a sneak peak and it’s releasing next week officially. I’ll catch it some time this week.

So after that I had a tour of the whole of Brunei and it’s happening spots…it took an hour, use your imagination….yeah it IS that boring. Then headed home and went online for a while. I would have taken some pics…but well there was nothing to see haha

I’ve noticed one thing though, the Radio is good here, because they play Capital FM live stream straight from the UK haha, would prefer if they played Radio 1 though, my favourite station and a lot less commercial…It’s nice to hear Johnny Vaughn on the breakfast show though.

I bought a couple more net cards yesterday too, so I shouldn’t get cut off so often..My colleague has gone back to KL so I’m totally alone in the house now..but at least I have the car so I can go out and get terribly lost all on my own (a weirdly exciting thought, the prospect feels interesting)..

I’ll go and take some pictures of the nicer looking things here (The 2 mosques).

I plan to take a trip to Jerudong Park aswell…even though I’ve heard most of the rides are closed because they lack maintenance and have become a bit scary..

My passport finally came back too, visa un-extended so it was all in vain &!@#!@%$^#!!

So the crux is, I have to leave *anyway*…I’ll probably drive to Miri at the weekend or something, have a beer or 15.

That’s it for now..

Ah Lians Lian, Ah Bengs Beng, Lala’s and aLtErNaTiNg cApItAlS

*sigh* what a sad state of affairs..

Just wanted to mumble a bit about the amount of Ahlians and Ahbengs around now, for those of you not native to these shores..how to explain..

An Ahbeng would be a stereotyped Singaporean/Malaysian male who speaks local slangs (Hokkien or Cantonese mixed with English and Malay) and likes to be noticed by wearing trendy (read ugly) fashion items, ie, tight outfits of luminous colour (Prominent brands like Versace, Moschino etc), coloured/dyed/bleached (Known as Golden Monkey hair) hair and accessories such as handphones, necklaces, all of which are conspicusously displayed. Shirts with dragons on are the thing, and tatoos too, lots of tatoos, usually also dragons. They usually drive normal cars such as a Wira 1.3 with an Evo III full bodykit, alloy spoiler, racing rims, 5″ barbeque set exhaust and super loud techno playing stereo with flashing lights. (You can see such cars at The Rice Boy Page). Full Fast & Furious style with neon lights under the car.

They love to listen to Techno music (known as feng tau, literally translated means ‘shake head’) and dance badly.

Typical Ahbeng car. Typical Ahbeng look.

More info can be found here: https://members.tripod.com/~kunkun/ahbeng2.htm

The oldest standing Ahbeng and Ahlian page hehe.

You can also check out the witty commentary at https://www.ahbeng.com/

There is also a Hong Kong variation commonly known as ‘Gu Wak Jai’ something like those guys from the Young And Dangerous movie series.

Most Ahbengs are emulating these guys (Ekin Chen, Jordan Cham etc).

Many are real gangsters, or wanna-be’s mostly involved in some part with some kind of Triad gang like their gu wak jai idols.

The Ahlian would be the female version, something like the asian version of a Bimbo. Baby G watch, in pink, again lots of branded stuff like Ferragamo headbands or belts, Versace, Gucci, LV etc..Mostly fake but the label must still be prominently displayed along with the latest handphone with pink cover. Huge platform shoes are a requirement and blonde/red/blue streaks in the hair, the aim is to look like one of the gorgeous Hong Kong pop chicks..but it rarely works.

Typical AhLian look.

They also both like to swear a huge amount with such gems as ‘Diu lei mou chao hai!’ ‘Ni na ma’ ‘Diu nia seng’ and ‘Ka ni na!’ The favourite alltimer I think is ‘Chao cibai’ shouted/screamed like CHOOOOOOOOWWWWW CHEEEEEEEE BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIII

If you enter any cybercafe you will see some bengs too playing counterstrike, howling like monkeys with the speakers on full blast..the Ahlians will be sitting around playing 02Jam and giggling.

Ok what brought this on…some classic gem I saw on one of the ‘community sites’..

Seriously..wtf?

What’s with the whole alternate capitalisation thing? I really, really, REALLY can’t stand that.

People please get your own identity..

If you go to any of the clubs in KL, you will see plenty of Ahbengs and Ahlians, enjoy the experience.

There are also SPG’s which I will perhaps explain another day..

If I offended anyone I know..sorry, but you are an Ahbeng and you know it 😛 Fortunately most the people I know have grown up and are no longer in that stage (even me, I have retired most of my dragon shirts).

Shaving cuts, food and rain?!?

Oh well exciting stuff over here as usual…

Went to a couple more open houses last night, food was decent as usual, met some interesting people.

Some of my colleagues here arrived yesterday from KL, lucky for them they only have to endure the place for 2 days..

My boss was here and said something like:

OMG, what has this place done to you, you’ve started shaving?!?

I’m not a great fan of scraping my face..

My friend, smoking partner and buddy colleague said…”Woah looks like this place is turning you into a zombie“…I guess it is, kinda sad really, drains the life out of me.

It has been raining non-stop since last night…so everything is kinda moist…was nice to sleep though, but hard to wake up in the morning with that relaxing, soothing patter of rain.

The most exciting thing that happened yesterday was that I cut myshelf shaving, I misjudged when moving the blade from my lip to my chin…and sliced part of myself off.

I mean the thing was fucking tiny ok like 1/4 of a mm, but it bled…and bled…and hurt…and bled

It was bleeding like I’d severed a main freaking vein or something.

I swear it bled less when I made a 1/4” deep gash in my thumb with a stanley knife (that kinda spurted though, not flowed, I hit the bone).

Also…I was pretty annoyed last night…

I tried to watch the New Police Story DVD I bought from Uncle Ho…as all my friends said it was good..

First up, the Cantonese channel didn’t work, so I had to watch it dubbed into Mandarin, which kinda sucks as it’s supposed to be in Hong Kong (I always prefer to watch films in their original language, whatever that may be).

Secondly the subtitles were totally screwed, out of sync and missing half of the time, so I had to try and infer what was going on…not too hard as it’s really not so complicated.

Then around 1 hour 8 minutes into the moving it started screwing up, jerking, freezing, skipping..

Argh!

I mean I don’t mind so much when DVD’s plain don’t work, but when they mess up half way or more through the movie…man that really bugs me.

I’ve been thinking about other serious crap I can blog about…or not so serious crap haha

I should perhaps add a section for food too as I love cooking and I love eating…

I was explaining my philosophy to someone yesterday, we have to eat everyday…so why let it become a chore? Embrace is, enjoy it, learn about it, appreciate it..most people don’t appreciate what they eat, what it contains, how it’s created, where it originated from and so on…

Maybe if you are lucky you’ll get to taste my cooking someday…some of you already have, yes they are still alive somehow 😛

I slept late last night..as a token seen as though it was Friday night…felt I should try and remember what it’s like to sleep late…even though in KL normal for a Friday night is like 5am..I managed to stay up here past 2am!

Awesome!

That’s all for now…will whinge more later.
