Dubai..sand…. sand…cranes …sand & Jack Daniels

I’m going out of my mind really, I’m not sure how much more of this I can take..

I have nothing to do, the hotel had no Internet (unless I paid a ridiculous RM100), the appartment I’m staying in now has no Internet and has 3 TV channels.

I’ve spent the last 3 days doing absolutely nothing apart from watching the same shitty movies over and over on TV…there were a few good ones thankfully, Road to Perdition, Ali is on tonight, the rest were pretty crap tho (Far & Away etc..).

I’m going to use my own precious bandwidth to host some pictures here..

I’ll have to post the rest of my UK trip when I get back as that would take too much bandwidth.

When I first came here I was staying in a ‘Chalet’ room, some cheap ass shit, it wasn’t even in the hotel, it was a concrete 2 floor building out the back behind the swimming pool..the shower didn’t work…I got out of there..

Now I’m in an appartment, there’s 6 of us in an appartment made perhaps for 3…although it is rather huge, sleeping on a sofa is not really my cup of tea, I’m not a fucking student any more!

Also being surrounded by sand…from all angles is a little oppressive, and the area I’m staying in is a building site, we are staying in about the only finished building.

It is odd though to look out the window when taking a piss and only see sand..

To look out the balcony and only see sand…and cranes.

So basically we drank a bottle of this..

Then everything was ok.

But now that’s gone, I’m very sad..

It’s hot, you stand still you sweat….if you don’t stand still you sweat a lot, you have to walk at 0.05km/h as if you walk any faster you might just fall down and die.

The server isn’t here yet still…I have to stay here, happy happy joy joy..

This might not be PC, considering the significance of the date, but…

…man, no wonder some of them are suicidal.

    Come home soon!

Have you been to the pool to get some tan and do some energetic swim to lose some weight?

cheer up, it can’t be all that bad – i’m sure you have something of a tan going on now with that sort of weather! 😉

Giant Sotong: HAHAHAHA Screw PC! Yah I agree…

earl-ku: Dude I’m in Dubai…they ban flickr, you think I can buy liquor? LOL All they have in the shops here is 0.0% alchohol beer.

pik: Planning to go on a Desert Safari, hopefully this week…everything is so expensive here though.

Dana: Choy! Yah that is bad…poor fella.

maria: Haha, no it’s not, I think it’s a pill case or something.

James: Yah, kinda Arabic too though, they have a lot of arches here.

    I understand your pain …

I’m in a fucking hotel where I can’t even have my luggage in the room (is that small). I spend most of my time on the entrance hall, sitting on the floor (no fucking chairs) because it’s the only way to get WiFi.

hey..im in dubai…they have alcohol…..go to any hotel for a drink..and some shops sell it..plus get a proxy if u wanna go to certain sites…… theres tons to do really… sand duning, shopping, desert safaris… water sports.. wild wadi if u like surfing… madinat jumeriah is awesome…nice restaurants n stuff…. give it a chance…

  14. ShaolinTiger September 13, 2006 at 7:39 pm #

Gouki: Wow that sounds even worse than sleeping on the sofa.

flanegan: Yah I went to Emirates mall….saw the ski thing, freaking expensive. Also costs about RM35 each way for the taxi…so RM70 just go and come back.

mona: Well seems like you are enjoying it then 🙂 I go to Seaview hotel some nights, they have an awesome band. I do prefer to drink at home though. Most the proxies I tried were blocked too or too slow and the session kept resetting. Sand duning etc is all expensive, and how many times can you go to Wild Wadi? Shopping is ok here, but better back home in Malaysia, that’s why everyone from here goes to Malaysia on holiday 🙂 Restaurants are pretty ok here, but eating I can do better in Malaysia too. It’s ok here, if you are a rich expat, but I’m not a great fan of aircon and I want to eat real street food, so this isn’t really a good place for me..

Wah..! You said ‘better back HOME in Malaysia’. Glad you consider Malaysia as home! I’ve never lived in another country, only for holidays, but after a max of 2 weeks, I always cannot wait to go home too!

    poor u……. literary u r really bored to death…

  17. cheekky September 15, 2006 at 4:17 pm #

Mate… next time look up Tor/Vidalia if you want to use a proxy… its a helluvalot faster and easier to use, I even managed to stream YouTube with no problems.
And avoid Dubai if travelling to the UAE cause its a city designed for tourists. Try Abu Dhabi instead where taxis cost about 5RM per journey on average. Mind you, alcohol is limited there and you have to travel to hotels where the prices are jacked up.

  18. fwan September 15, 2006 at 10:18 pm #

hiya, how r u? i was wondering if i could “steal” a few pictures from your site and post it on my blog? thinking of taking the sky pictures, they look very nice. cheers, fwan.

  19. ShaolinTiger September 19, 2006 at 7:46 am #

in: Home is where my heart is friend 🙂 Malaysia is definately my home now. I like to travel, but sometimes for work it can be very boring stuck in the same hotel or appt with no idea where to go and limited resources.

foodcrazee: Yah very glad to be back, I’ll celebrate with Wan Tan Mee for breakfast 🙂

cheekky: Yah I tried Tor, it was blocked too 🙁 Loads of proxy sites were blocked, I tried a few but couldn’t get flickr to work due to cookie problems. Yah Abu Dhabi looks good, but nvm was there on business anyway..so had to stay in Dubai.

fwan: Hey glad to be back, no need to say ‘steal’ as you are asking permission ;( You’re welcome to use my pics as long as you credit properly. Cheers!
