Moms Trip - Day 1 - Visiting the National History Museum - Kuala Lumpur Malaysia
Also known as Muzium Sejarah Nasional.
I wonder how many KL-ites know this exists? (Not THAT many I'd guess)
I also wonder how many KL-ites have been there (A handful perhaps)
I discovered this by accident aswell, not really well publicised I'd say, school kids should go there, Malaysia Tourism should promote it, it's a good guide to the history of the country since prehistoric times. Admission is free!

It's a nice looking place, quite small and packed full of interesting objects and descriptions.

It's spread over 3 floors, with a different part of the history of Malaysia on each floor, the ground floor starting with some really early megolithic data. There are some great maps too from the olden days, you can see the travellers were quite advanced even though it was a few hundred years ago, their maps were pretty accurate.

Mr Hang Tuah of course
More info here.
The museum itself is VERY clean and nicely laid out, it wasn't that busy either, probably due to lack of advertisments and lack of awareness.

This is a Bunga Mas or Golden Flowers.

This object was sent every 3 years to the Siamese government in Bangkok as a sign of friendship by the Malay rulers of the northern states of Peninsular Malaysia. This was around the 14th century.

There was also information about each of the colonial periods, with items from those periods, a history of the currency in Malaysia with a collection of notes and various other objects showing the complete history of Malaysia.
It's very much worth a visit if you live in KL or if you have someone visiting from outside.
Do check it out, perhaps if more people go there will be more awareness.
