Tell me who you are..

Maybe after that, I’ll tell you who I am..

Going diving to Redang in a couple of hours, coming back Sunday some time, so see you all on Monday!

If you pass by my blog, or maybe you’re a silent regular, or someone that knows me in real life, say hi, leave your name, where you’re from and why you come.

I’d be interested to know.

Cheers and have a great weekend!

  28. Dabido (Teflon) September 23, 2005 at 8:15 am #

I’m probably one of yur noisiest readers … and appologies if that’s annoying … but hey, I like thinking about thing, and hopefully my comments are helpful to peopleand make them think or are at least funny sometimes. (or something)

Wandered over to your site about a year ago as I am an Internet friend of Suanie (as you probably know) and well, basically followed her links to other interesting blogs and stuff that i like to read.

My interest in Malaysia comes from the fact that I am the third generation of my family to have lived there (and in Singapore), though I haven’t been back since 1972 (ooo, I am old), though I plan to return one day for a visit.

You probably know a lot more about me from my usual ramblings on here and other sites that we mutually frequent.

[And I also was a Network Engineer who knows a little about security etc, so we have other things in common, though you don’t talk much about your work here].

    I guess that’s about it. 🙂

Twenty something. works in Tv and does freelance writing on a part time basis for kicks and of course a little extra money.

Loves watching TV and loves to dabble in amateur/sense and sometimes senseless writing in cyberspace.

Your blog is one of the few which I take the liberty to read on a daily basis. Love it! Good stuff…:)

dabido: waiiiiita minute… you’re no “starving artist” like it says on your profile… Network Engineer! busted! figures. starving artists aren’t on the IntahNed alla time. They’re busy setting up “installations” out of trash cans.

  48. aw3 September 24, 2005 at 7:58 am #

    Waaah. This is so fake.

I drop by because I find your site to be a fascinating read. That, and the recent war between you and XiaXue had something to do with it too, heh.

    Cheers mate!

stumbled upon your blog about a month back. goes pretty well with my morning coffee.
    cheerios from down under 🙂

  55. Dabido (Teflon) September 25, 2005 at 1:16 am #

AW3 – If you read what I wrote earlier, I “WAS” a Network Engineer … and Um … okay, I will be again soon, as I’m starting my own company up to do that sort of thing – BUT I am and have also been these things – Graphic Designer, Studio Musician, Musician in a Band, Published Poet, artist (painter).

I’ve spent the last two and a half years wasting my time and money trying to figure out what to do with my life next.

I’ve just decided to go back into Network Engineering as I can earn about AUD$150,000 a year or so contracting my brain out.

Hopefully, I’ll finish my novel(s) and stuff in that time and then I can decide what I really want to do … the Network Engineering is just to earn some extra cash while my brain is flip flopping between trying to decide on a future life style.

BUT, I am a starving artist, because while I was wasting time and money trying to decide what to do over the last two and a half years I’ve lived off a shoe string budget (partly due to a big loan I had, which went really bad when I lost a lot with the stock market crash from September 11 – I turned $72k into a $40k loan … so I’ve been paying that off – thus starving) – so, I’ve done NO Network Engineering in that time, but have done some paintings, recording of music and writing (which reminds me, I have a freelance writing assignment I have to finish in the next month).

So, at present -NOT a Network Engineer – I am a starving artist. In near future, I will be CEO and Network Engineer and hopefuly out of the red and into the black again.

[PS don’t follow the advice of your finiancial advisors … if I had of followed my brain and gut instinct, I would still have had my money, and not got into trouble]
Hope all that makes sense. Cheers.

ST – Sorry for using up your bandwidth with this long explanation.

  56. Dabido (Teflon) September 25, 2005 at 1:17 am #

Beerbabe – you’re imagining things again! There is no comment (and no spoon either … how am I going to eat BREAKFAST! ARRRGH!) hee hee 🙂

  62. Steffi September 25, 2005 at 2:35 pm #

Been around ever since the XX thingy…Find your blog rather entertaining. And i saw you at KLIA and at redang. 😉

  63. aw3 September 25, 2005 at 8:19 pm #

Interesting.. glad you are taking it all in stride and you’re on your way to become an ex-starving artist. Hopefully a productive artist in the future.

Although, we can go town on whether “starving” and “productive” are necessarily mutually exclusive, depending on whether the definition of art includes commercial recognition. And then, on whether that recognition might only occur after the artist shuffles off this mortal coil.

We’ll leave that for when there is beer around.

AUS$150K a year? That is a huge chunk of change. Move back to Malaysia. Live like a pseudo-prince. Invite us to your lavish parties with sashimi served on women. Oh wait, they don’t have it here. OK, fly us all to Japan.

  64. Dabido (Teflon) September 25, 2005 at 10:06 pm #

I don’t think I can earn AUD$150k a year in Malaysia. (Or can I? Is it possible?)

Anyway, have to get the business up and viable before I will have any great chunks of money. Till then (and until my debts are paid off), I am still going to have a little struggle.

But, other than my Sept. 11 Misfortune, I am usually very good with money, so shouldn’t have too much trouble once the ball is rolling again. (I hope) 🙂

  65. ShaolinTiger September 25, 2005 at 10:57 pm #
