Nuffnang Nokia Silent Halloween Party at Borneo Baruk Club - KL

So Nuffnang arranged another kick-ass party! This time for Halloween with the main sponsor being Nokia, the theme was Silent Halloween - where everyone would be dancing to the tunes pumping from their headphones. Interesting concept eh?

Anyway these are the official pictures as Nuffnang was kind enough to offer me the official photographer spot for this event, thanks Nuffnang!

There were some great costumes and some really good home-made efforts (big up to Klubbkidd again for his Kurt Cobain).

It was still light when I arrived there around 6+ and lots of cam-whoring going on in front of the club.

Nuffnang Wild ‘Live’ Blogging Party - June 21st Hartamas

So the party was a blast! Loads of people turned up and the outfits were fantastic, all different kinds, self made, cobbled together from existing stuff and the more flashy rented outfits (gorillas and cows were popular).

Liang was a great emcee as usual and it was a good night all in all, nice food, good company, loads of bloggers and free beer (yay!).

I was keeping it real in my mad tiger skin.

ShaolinTiger

I didn't wear it all the time as it was hot inside and out...and the jacket was quite thick.

Firdy doesn't need the monkey mask, Nicholas doesn't look too impressed.

Krabi Thailand Trip Day 1 - Flight, Tiger Cave (Wat Tham Sua), The Fruit Market, Fish Farm & Krabi La Playa

As you've probably noticed, last week I went to Krabi in Thailand for 4 days. Lucky for me it was sponsored by Air Asia and arranged by Nuffnang.

Krabi is pretty close to Phuket if you are familiar with that place, the difference is it's a lot less commercialised - which in my opinion makes it a MUCH better place to go to. It's still pretty quiet, in Krabi center the shops close at 9.30pm and even in the 'tourist' area Ao Nang everything is pretty much closed by midnight.

It's a fairly small city with about 20,000 people and it's the provincial capital of Krabi Province, the province itself has a population of around 340,000 people.

We left from KLIA LCCT at 10am on Tuesday morning. Air Asia has a new facility at LCCT where if you are traveling light you can check in via the bright red Kiosk Check-In and avoid all the queues which is very useful. It's only for those with hand luggage though, but you can save some time if you don't have bags to check in. The Kiosk will scan the barcode from your online ticket print-out and check you in.

Take Off

This was the inaugural flight for KL-Krabi! Flights to Krabi start from RM49.90.

It was full too, it looks like it's going to be a popular destination.

Full Flight

The plane landed about 6 minutes ahead of schedule! The weather was a bit grey when we arrived, was hoping for blue skies!

Nuffnang - It’s very good MAN

Nuffnang

What's it all about?

Ok so you may have heard of this thing called Nuffnang, or you may have seen the banners on my blog, or on other Malaysian blogs.

Most likely you've already signed up and perhaps you too are displaying the ads on your sites, if not...Nuffnang is a new advertising network aimed at blogs.

You can read more about it here:

http://www.nuffnang.com.my/

The target is initially blogs in Malaysia, so if you have a blog, do sign up (you just need 20 or more unique hits per day).

Why?

There's no affiliate type scheme on Nuffnang, I just want to support the local guys and think it's really great someone has the balls, insight and technical know how to try and do something like this locally.

On a global platform it might not be cutting edge, but for Asia, it's definitely a step in the right direction.

I also want to support them as their featured blogger (at the moment) looks very handsome and intelligent.

If you're a blog reader you'll probably be familiar with Leng Mou and Boss Stewie, one of the guys behind it. He's a partner in Nuffnang, so show your support!

BTW when I said no to ads on blogs, I said no to irrelevant 'contextual' ads that have nothing to do with the readers of the blog. I fully support a localised, targeted blog advertising network as I believe people with good blogs should earn money for their efforts.

Yah but what the hell does Nuffnang mean?

Some people have assumed it means nothing, but they obviously can't use Google..as if you break the two syllables up it's not that hard to find the meaning.

There's a new dialect emerging in London called Jafaican or Jafaikan, which is a combination of Jamaican and African and possible Fake (as a lot of white kids use it too).

If you are familiar with Ali-G it's something similar to the patwa he uses, the point is Nuffnang is something different and a different way of communicating with people.

Nuff means 'very' or 'really' and Nang means 'good' or 'cool', so Nuffnang means Very Good, or Really Cool.

You can read more at Wikipedia or an article in The Guardian.

I really like the fact they have dared to use a different non-generic name (one that doesn't contain the word 'ads' for example) as it shows some creativity and they have forged a powerful brand for themselves.

Anyway I hope you support Nuffnang and local ads and the local guys doing something different sign up ASAP!
