Sean Kingston Live at Zouk KL - Malaysia
So last month Sean Kingston was in town to perform a few songs in KL, his first stop was Zouk KL - it was in conjuction with Hotlink and Hitz.fm.
You might know him from his overplayed song "Beautiful Girls" - I do prefer this version though "Sean Krapston - Suicidal Song".
Zouk is blessed with being in a rather iconic location with the KLCC towers looming behind it, this always makes for good pics outside.

There were lots of people outside taking pics and having fun with the Hotlink boys and girls.

Inside was pretty packed with everyone waiting for the arrival of the star for the night.

Tiesto & Cosmic Gate LIVE at Freedom 08 - Port Dickson, Malaysia
If you've been reading my blog for some time you might know I'm a fan of Tiesto - I went to see him last time he was here which was back in 2006 at Sepang (DJ Tiesto - Live at Sepang Malaysia!) so I definitely won't miss the chance to see him head over here for his Elements of Life tour.
He was here for Freedom 08 at Admiral Marina in Port Dickson - the same place I went for that crappy Recharge 3: R3velation - The Aftermath in 2005.
I didn't meet any blog reading fans this time but I did see Adeline and Nadia from MDG!
Yes yes...3 years isn't been long I went to my first rave in 1994 for my 16 birthday so yeah work that out.
We reached the front gate around 10:15pm....omg look at the queue, lucky we pre-bought our tickets weeks ago at Axcess in 1-U.

We got inside around 10:45pm - not tooooo bad. Seen as though it was quite late the German duo of DJ Bossi & Nic Chagall commonly known as Cosmic Gate were already rocking the show and the place was pretty packed.

Live and Loud 2007 Part 4 - Joe Flizzow and M8 with Jaclyn Victor
Next up when it was getting dark before the big guns of Shaggy and Whitney were a few local acts. Namely Joe Flizzow (of Too Phat fame) and M8 with Jaclyn Victor, Noryn Aziz, Nikki and a bunch of others (Yes both of the pictures on Wikipedia of Joe and Jaclyn are mine!).
Joe Flizzow came out first with his crew and performed for quite some time.

He had this cool shirt on which emulated a thick gold chain - and of course his trademark KL Cap.

It was a fairly energetic performance with hats thrown to the crowd and some break-dancing.

Live and Loud 2007 Part 4 - Project Pop from Indonesia
Well I have a chair and a tidy appartment now...so I can continue with what I was doing! Live and Loud it happened to be..
So back to Live and Loud 2007!

Things really started to heat up when Project Pop came on from Indonesia - absolutely hilarious.

Really energetic and very entertaining, non-stop costume changes.

Who can fault 2 guys in dresses and blonde wigs!

A bit of atmosphere.

They really knew how to get the crowd moving.

This lady was large, and knew it and used it for comic effect

They did a hilarious techo vs rock skit as well - the drummer was fantastic breaking between a hardcore techno beat and classic rock seamlessly.

Excellent stuff - definitely one of the most entertaining performances of the night!
Lot's of things to catch up with now...so hopefully I'll be able to get the rest of live and loud done, then I can get onto the waterfalls - and various other things.
Merry Xmas!
5 commentsLive and Loud 2007 Part 3 - Elliott Yamin Live
The act a lot of people have been waiting for! Elliott Yamin! If you don't know much about him you can read up more on Wiki Elliott Yamin.
He was third-place finalist on the fifth season of American Idol and is famous in the mainstream for his song "Wait for You". You can check out the song on Youtube here - Wait for You.
It's the performance of the night a lot of people were looking forwards too and the artist a lot of people specifically came to see.
It was unfortunate on two parts - it started raining as he came on, which wasn't too heavy thankfully. And he didn't cross over to the main stage - so the people there didn't get to see much of him.
He came on with his band and started setting things up, got things going.

It was fully dark by the time he came on which made the lighting much more dramatic, especially with the rain.

Pretty big crowd when he started singing, and pretty pumped.
Even wet and sweaty he continued singing like a true pro.

Well the concert was 'rain or shine'.
He spent some time on the catwalk thing right in the middle of the crowd, which they really appreciated.

He really rocked the show.

There was quite a crowd - umbrellas and all.

And that was Elliott Yamin.

A very soulful guy, very humble and nice too. I managed to pass him my card in case he wanted any of the pictures and he actually e-mailed me!
So I've sent him some pics over, looking forwards to seeing them on his Myspace when time permits.
More on Elliott's Myspace here.
11 commentsKL Fashion Week Cancelled & Digi Street Blast
I was looking forwards to KLFW this year, as I managed to get a photography pass last year…but I couldn’t go as I had to fly of to hell Riyadh, Saudi Arabia..
It was supposed to be at the end of October, it was then postponed until November 11-14th, now it’s canceled for this possible showing it’s face again in March 2008.
Anyway there is still MIFA! I managed to go on the first day and get some pics, will post them later.
Speaking of which, Digi is having a Fashion related competition as a part of it’s Fu-Yoh Street Blast festival (Sports, Music, Fashion & Dance).

There are some decent prizes up for grabs like the latest Nokia Prism phones and bundles of cash $$!
Along side this there is another two sections to the competition related to dancing and sports. For the b-boy fans the best 8 will get to show off this Saturday at the finals, selected from various teams who sent their videos in. The sports section involves basketball and futsal.
Again, all these will be happening this Saturday, November 24th at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa (12pm onwards).
I might check it out as I really love watching break-dancing, it’s always something I wanted to do. Get down to the finals and check out who will be the Queen of Fashion or who has the best B-boy moves in town.

The X-trick competition will be fun to watch too with the X-games style tricks on skates, boards and bikes. If you want you can get even get flung in the air with the inverse bungee (G-Force)!
There will be various artists performing such as Gerhana Ska Cinta, Joe Flizzow, Sierra, Letto from Indonesia.
It reminds me I still haven’t processed or posted the pictures from Floor Combat back in February..that was ages ago.
Anyway get over to http://www.digi.com.my/fu-yoh/ to find out more.
3 commentsStar Celeb ‘Photo Contest’ at Loft - 3rd Prize Winner!
So a while back I went to Bed to take some pics for a photo contest, it turns out that I won a prize!
I didn't know which place, I was just asked to head along to Loft in Heritage Row (Just opposite Bed funnily enough) to collect my prize last Friday night at 10pm. You can see all the entrants and the three winners pictures here: Star Celeb Photo Contest.
I should of noted the time and perhaps gone at 11.30pm, as it started around 11.45pm in actual fact.
The place was pretty empty when we got there, it got warmed up later on though. The last 10 Star Celeb finalists were there (final 8 and two wildcards), with Kim Ong doing her thing of course.

Then a little later it was my turn to collect my prize, Shutter Asians collected 3rd and 1st prizes! With Siew snatching first.

I won RM300, yay!
Loft got pretty packed by midnight or so, I bumped into quite a few people (vad3r, jack and wussy).

Quite a decent place with some good music, real mix of people too. Not so much youngsters, more mid twenties all the way up to fifties, lot's of not-so-slim-folks too.
Went for some Teochew porridge after that at Jalan Pudu, yummy. Wasn't in the mood to drink that night at all, so strangely sober.
Oh well, here's to winning more contests
Perhaps I should start entering some..
Star Celeb ‘Photo Contest’ at Bed - Heritage Row
A while back I went to some 'Photo Contest' at Bed in Asian Heritage row down in KL - I don't go to KL often....so I had to drag myself down there.
But I was supporting Kim Ong - so it was ok
I briefly posted about it just after the event, but with the server crash and some other stuff I've been a bit hectic since then.
We were there to take some pictures of the Star Celeb contestants in a clubbing environment, challenging for both us and the contestants.
There was 3 sections basically - Pose, Groove and Chill being a fixed pose on the stage then 30 seconds of emcee time, then dancing inside the club, then hanging out respectively.

It was pretty tough with odd lighting and extremely low ambient light conditions. Plus it was my first time shooting in a clubbing environment, trying to get the settings right was interesting to say the least.

Kim is very natural on the mic.

Speedzone 2007 for MotoGP at Zouk with Seb Fontaine and Matt Darey
Last weekend I went to Speedzone at Zouk, in honour of the MotoGP at Sepang the next day.
I was attracted by the top notch line-up (Matt Darey trance god and Seb Fontaine).
I was on the media board - femes can?!

The backdrop of course was KLCC visible clearly behind Zouk.

Then when we went in there was some cool bike simulator, you couldn't actually control it - it was more for experience but it was fun. The screen was massive and the sound loud.

It chucked you around pretty hard too - kinda cool.
