Intimate Acoustic Session with Hannah Tan at Somo, Mon’t Kiara

I joined Hannah Tan and many other familiar faces over at Somo last week to check out her live acoustic session, just her and a keyboard! No dancers, no fancy production, no backup, no live musicians.

It was a little quiet at first but got busier as the night went on, Hannah arrived and settled down to start her performance.

The banner you see on the left..yes that picture was taken by me!

The audience were a little shy at first, but she soon got them warmed up.

Sunrise Jazz & Rythm Fest 2006 - Mon’t Kiara - Cosmic Funk Express

Well it's about time I started sorting out my folder for pictures to check, it's reaching 30GB.

So here's the first blast from the past, some pics I took at Mon't Kiara Jazzfest, I did pretty ok looking back with the noise on the D70s and just the kit lens!

It was the last gig for Cosmic Funk Express and great it was, some people actually danced, there was a large crowd and we had a bottle of Swing, so I assume Paul must have been there too!

Swing

Yah of course by the end of the night it was gone..

With the help of the staff from Clear.

Sunrise Jazz & Rhythm Festival 2006 - Mon’t Kiara

So last Friday night I headed down to the Sunrise Jazz & Rhythm Festival 2006 at Plaza Mont Kiara featuring "Rachel Guerzo Quartet" and "Lewis Pragasam & AsiaBeat" on the opening night.

The host was some pale dude called Michael Quah I think, they had a fashion show early in the evening which I missed and some small competitions between the musical segments.

It was quite packed, with not that many places left to sit, my friends and I got a place at Starbucks to enjoy the music.

Jazz Festival

First up was the Rachel Guerzo Quartet, a lethal father and daugther combo with Rachel Guerzo of course, her father Salvador Guerzo, Vincent Ong, Don Nizam and Louis Saliano.

Places to Eat in Mon’t Kiara - Maredo’s Argentinian Steakhouse

Awesome steak, best best steak evar. Eagle's Nest was good, but I still prefer Maredo's.

Maredo's Steakhouse

Really, I love it. It's a little pricey for lunch but seriously I never regret it, it melts in your mouth.

Set Lunch

It comes in at RM24++ per person, not bad for the quality.

It's different every week or so, first time I went was black pepper, second time was a bit fruity, 3rd was gravy and mushrooms...all goood.

The decor is nice with lots of wood and huge Argentinian prints everywhere.

Maredo's Decor

The set lunch comes with access to the Salad Bar which has some decent variety.

Salad Bar

This was my choice.

Salad

And yes this is what we came for, here's my medium 'doneness' Steak.

Medium Steak

An obligatory mystyle close up ;)

Steak Close-up

Of course I polished it all off, I could have whacked another one too...arghh heavenly.

Empty Plate

Writing this is making my stomach rumble..

Come join me for lunch!

Food seems to be the most popular request for me to write about...it's just there's so many food blogs around nowadays, it seems a bit boring.

I've still got loads of posts about food to write...just got overloaded with seeing all the shitty quality foodblogs and bad pictures of food, kinda demotivated me.

I know mine is still the best :P But I don't like being part of a crowd. Since I got the SLR I don't take much pictures of food, it's a bit bulky to carry to dinner.

I need to start pocketing my A70 again and taking some snaps of nice things I eat! The K750 doesn't really snap great pics indoors.

That'll give me more stuff to blog about, yay for food.

I wanted to get some more pictures from my phone but for some reason it's playing up and I can't detect it, I really need to reformat my PC, it's getting screwed up...and it's starting to be a burden using Windows 2000 as some things don't work (Like Windows Live Messenger..) even though I love it for it's stability and security. Ah well.

To all the people who suggested topics, thanks some great ideas. Will get round to them 1 by 1, watch this space.

Places to Eat in Mon’t Kiara - Marmalade - Best Frittata EVA!

I don't go to Marmalade too often for lunch as it is kind of expensive, but it's really worth it if you just got paid or you want to treat yourself, the food is very fresh and delicious.

They serve some kind of fusion food with italian, english and mediteranean influences.

If you want to get to Marmalade, it's just across the road from Plaza Mon't Kiara, next to a convenience store.

Marmalade Menu

The menu is pretty varied, they have pies, salads, burgers, sandwiches all sorts. Some very unique stuff too.

The Frittata is really fantastic, it's kind of like an omlette, but much much thicker and chock full of big mushrooms and ham!

Frittata

It's very filling too, totally recommend this one.

Frittata

It's a nice place, it has a very clean and sunny decor, nice pine furniture and bright colours with a childrens play area in the corner. It's quite often packed at lunch time and you have to wait a while for a seat.

Marmalade

I really love the pies too, gorgeous home made taste with lumpy chunky mashed potatoe and some good gravy.

This is the chicken pie!

Marmalade Chicken Pie

I find the beef pie a little dry, but it's still very good.

Marmalade Beef Pie

They also have a very nice selection of authentic home made desserts! Reminds me of the stuff my Mom makes.

Desserts

This is the rather tasty Lemon Meringue Pie

Lemon Meringue Pie

The drinks are lovely too (My favourite is the Daystarter) but rather expensive at RM8-9 each.

The meals around around RM12-18 each, which is pretty reasonable for the quality of the food and the size of the portions.

Hmm perhaps it's a Marmalade lunch day today!
