Hennessy Artistry - Shayne Ward, Until June and The DEY - 27th September KL, Malaysia

Hennessy Artistry 2008

Hennessy, the No.1 selling cognac in the world, continues its wildly successful Hennessy Artistry tour in Malaysia! The last one with Flo Rida, Machi and Pop Shuvit was a huge success and the talk of the town for weeks after.

It was certainly one hell of a party! For this one which will be held in Orange Club, KL (Sept 27th) - Shayne Ward will be entertaining the crowds along side The DEY and Until June.

So the event will be mixing up a bit of pop, rock and hip-hop - nice combo! Expect an unforgettable evening of pure unification as Hennessy VSOP blends sound, visual innovation and an exclusive array of Hennessy VSOP world city cocktails.

Shayne Ward became famous after winning X-Factor back in the UK, his music has hit #1 in Hong Kong, Sweden, Indonesia, Korea, South Africa, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. I'd be surprised if you didn't recognise these two songs..Breathless & No Promises.

Until June is a group of 3 very good-looking young men from Hollywood, California, they are often favourably compared to Keane, Coldplay and Ben Folds Five. Theirs is powerful, piano-based rock, with warm falsettos that crescendo into warm moments of emotion. Check out their track What I've Done here.

The DEY is a Latino trio fittingly known as The DEY is ushering in a new era in urban grooves. Composed of MC Divine, vocalist Élan, and MC Yeyo (hence the name DEY), this bilingual Latino trio fuses hip-hop, R&B, pop, and Afro-Latino influences for a unique, singing/rapping fusion-heavy sound that celebrates Latinos’ rich cultural heritage. They got their big break after holing up in Miami for 4 days when they produced enough groundbreaking material to land a deal with Epic Records. You can check out one of their tracks here.

Hennessy Artistry Part 2 - Flo Rida and Party People at Bukit Kiara, KL - Malaysia

After Pop Shuvit & Machi had played, it was time for Flo Rida. You could see the crowd were eager with anticipation of the big act of the night coming out.

DJ Latin Prince hit the decks for a while before the main act came on stage and warmed the crowd up a little.

Flo Rida (Famous for Low) himself rocked onto the stage shortly before midnight with a huge reaction from the crowd, you can see people were truly excited to see him up there. Girls especially were going WILD!

The crowd was pumped up!

Hennessy Artistry Part 1 - Pop Shuvit & Machi at Bukit Kiara, KL - Malaysia

So it's Hennessy time again! Another event from the Hennessy Artistry series and a much bigger and grander affair this time.

You may remember my post about Hennessy Artistry at Zouk last time - following that there was another event at Aloha and then this one which everyone has been waiting for!

This time it was in Bukit Kiara indoor arena so it was much much larger, it was very well organised with good security and the place was decked out really well. There were different areas according to the cocktails (Miami for media/bloggers, KL for VIP/celebs and so on).

They had the cool little DJ booths like last time.

There was plenty of picture taking outside with Polaroid cameras and of course the celebs as they came in.

Pop Shuvit were the opening act so they were one of the earlier ones to arrive.

It must have been the place to be because everyone was there like Levy Su Lin (Miss Malaysia Universe).

Flo Rida Rocking at Bukit Kiara for Hennessy Artistry

Wow, 5am - time to sleep I guess. Flo Rida rocked the show...apart from the part where he emptied half a bottle of Moet on my head...luckily managed to shield my camera. I don't think Reta was so lucky though!

Nice to meet everyone there, all in all a good party...better head to bed. Will post the pics here and on Facebook soon!

Sean Kingston Live at Zouk KL - Malaysia

So last month Sean Kingston was in town to perform a few songs in KL, his first stop was Zouk KL - it was in conjuction with Hotlink and Hitz.fm.

You might know him from his overplayed song "Beautiful Girls" - I do prefer this version though "Sean Krapston - Suicidal Song".

Zouk is blessed with being in a rather iconic location with the KLCC towers looming behind it, this always makes for good pics outside.

There were lots of people outside taking pics and having fun with the Hotlink boys and girls.

Inside was pretty packed with everyone waiting for the arrival of the star for the night.

Tiesto & Cosmic Gate LIVE at Freedom 08 - Port Dickson, Malaysia

If you've been reading my blog for some time you might know I'm a fan of Tiesto - I went to see him last time he was here which was back in 2006 at Sepang (DJ Tiesto - Live at Sepang Malaysia!) so I definitely won't miss the chance to see him head over here for his Elements of Life tour.

He was here for Freedom 08 at Admiral Marina in Port Dickson - the same place I went for that crappy Recharge 3: R3velation - The Aftermath in 2005.

I didn't meet any blog reading fans this time but I did see Adeline and Nadia from MDG!

Yes yes...3 years isn't been long I went to my first rave in 1994 for my 16 birthday so yeah work that out.

We reached the front gate around 10:15pm....omg look at the queue, lucky we pre-bought our tickets weeks ago at Axcess in 1-U.

Crazy Crowd

We got inside around 10:45pm - not tooooo bad. Seen as though it was quite late the German duo of DJ Bossi & Nic Chagall commonly known as Cosmic Gate were already rocking the show and the place was pretty packed.

Intimate Acoustic Session with Hannah Tan at Somo, Mon’t Kiara

I joined Hannah Tan and many other familiar faces over at Somo last week to check out her live acoustic session, just her and a keyboard! No dancers, no fancy production, no backup, no live musicians.

It was a little quiet at first but got busier as the night went on, Hannah arrived and settled down to start her performance.

Hannah Tan at Somo

The banner you see on the left..yes that picture was taken by me!

The audience were a little shy at first, but she soon got them warmed up.

Live and Loud 2007 Part 5 - Shaggy Himself! Mr Boombastic

The most exciting act of the night other than Whitney herself was Shaggy (Orville Richard Burrell) - the main man! He was rocking the floors back in the day when I myself was a youngster hopping in the clubs to classics like Oh Carolina and In The Summertime, and of course the ever classic Boombastic!

He burst on to the stage with a huge amount of energy and rocked the crowd from start to finish, definitely 100% the most exciting and entertaining act of the night. He was on stage with his regular partners in crime Rikrok (famous for 'It wasn't me') and Rayvon (The voice on 'Summertime' & 'Angel').

The crowd was absolutely jammed in by the time Shaggy came on.

Shaggy Crowd

He straight away got the crowd pumping with his energy and ragga stylin hip thrusting.

Just look at his expression and the mic position, caused quite some shaking of heads amongst the more conservative party attendees apparently.

Live and Loud 2007 Part 4 - Joe Flizzow and M8 with Jaclyn Victor

Next up when it was getting dark before the big guns of Shaggy and Whitney were a few local acts. Namely Joe Flizzow (of Too Phat fame) and M8 with Jaclyn Victor, Noryn Aziz, Nikki and a bunch of others (Yes both of the pictures on Wikipedia of Joe and Jaclyn are mine!).

Joe Flizzow came out first with his crew and performed for quite some time.

Joe Flizzow

He had this cool shirt on which emulated a thick gold chain - and of course his trademark KL Cap.

Joe Flizzow

It was a fairly energetic performance with hats thrown to the crowd and some break-dancing.
