Hennessy Artistry at Zouk with DJ Andrew K & Keri

As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago the 2008 Hennessy Artistry parties would be kicking off in KL and Penang - 18th & 19th April.

I attended the KL party on April 18th with a whole lot of other famous bloggers and we partied the night away in the VIP section with plenty of tasty Hennessy cocktails (Hennessy and Ginger Ale rocks it).

Anyway the party was at Zouk - Jalan Ampang right in front of the Iconic KLCC Towers. The party itself was actually down in Velvet.

Star Celeb ‘Photo Contest’ at Loft - 3rd Prize Winner!

So a while back I went to Bed to take some pics for a photo contest, it turns out that I won a prize!

I didn't know which place, I was just asked to head along to Loft in Heritage Row (Just opposite Bed funnily enough) to collect my prize last Friday night at 10pm. You can see all the entrants and the three winners pictures here: Star Celeb Photo Contest.

I should of noted the time and perhaps gone at 11.30pm, as it started around 11.45pm in actual fact.

The place was pretty empty when we got there, it got warmed up later on though. The last 10 Star Celeb finalists were there (final 8 and two wildcards), with Kim Ong doing her thing of course.

Kim on the Mike

Then a little later it was my turn to collect my prize, Shutter Asians collected 3rd and 1st prizes! With Siew snatching first.

3rd Prize

I won RM300, yay!

Loft got pretty packed by midnight or so, I bumped into quite a few people (vad3r, jack and wussy).

Loft

Quite a decent place with some good music, real mix of people too. Not so much youngsters, more mid twenties all the way up to fifties, lot's of not-so-slim-folks too.

Went for some Teochew porridge after that at Jalan Pudu, yummy. Wasn't in the mood to drink that night at all, so strangely sober.

Oh well, here's to winning more contests :) Perhaps I should start entering some..

Heineken “Life Below Zero” Beer Launch at Velvet Underground - Zouk

Ah finally! A party I really enjoyed. So the story is, I was invited to a product launch by Heineken who are launching new "sub-zero" bottled beer in Malaysia, their sub-zero draft has already been installed in 30 locations through Malaysia since September this year and now they are launching new Sub-zero beer chillers for bottled beer.

I was a bit annoyed as it was 7pm on a Monday night in the middle of KL...during the season when it rains a lot during early evening - just great!

I got there about 7.45pm and queued for some draft, good stuff. It really does taste better when it's extra cold - we were upstairs for a while at the bar whilst waiting for the launch to kick of downstairs in Velvet Underground.

So we headed down, there was ice everywhere, huge green blocks of ice filled with bottles of Heineken - good stuff!

Heineken on Ice

The place was fairly well packed.

Velvet Underground

Joey G was the emcee (as he always seems to be nowadays) and the thing kicked off with a video about how the beer is best served extra cold, then a delivery by the regional director for Heineken - sounded like an Aussie.

Star Celeb ‘Photo Contest’ at Bed - Heritage Row

A while back I went to some 'Photo Contest' at Bed in Asian Heritage row down in KL - I don't go to KL often....so I had to drag myself down there.

But I was supporting Kim Ong - so it was ok :D I briefly posted about it just after the event, but with the server crash and some other stuff I've been a bit hectic since then.

We were there to take some pictures of the Star Celeb contestants in a clubbing environment, challenging for both us and the contestants.

There was 3 sections basically - Pose, Groove and Chill being a fixed pose on the stage then 30 seconds of emcee time, then dancing inside the club, then hanging out respectively.

Effa

It was pretty tough with odd lighting and extremely low ambient light conditions. Plus it was my first time shooting in a clubbing environment, trying to get the settings right was interesting to say the least.

Kim is very natural on the mic.

Speedzone 2007 for MotoGP at Zouk with Seb Fontaine and Matt Darey

Last weekend I went to Speedzone at Zouk, in honour of the MotoGP at Sepang the next day.

I was attracted by the top notch line-up (Matt Darey trance god and Seb Fontaine).

I was on the media board - femes can?!

Speedzone Media List

The backdrop of course was KLCC visible clearly behind Zouk.

KLCC Behind Zouk

Then when we went in there was some cool bike simulator, you couldn't actually control it - it was more for experience but it was fun. The screen was massive and the sound loud.

Motorbike Simulator

It chucked you around pretty hard too - kinda cool.

Speedzone 2007 at Zouk on 20th October with Seb Fontaine and Matt Darey

Speedzone Tour 2007

Yah it's that time of the year again! Speedzone is coming and the Speedzone tour 2007.

It's going to be hitting Zouk KL on the 20th of October with some serious headline acts. Matt Darey and Seb Fontaine rocking it hard from my homeland, two of the DJ's I really enjoy.

The rest of the line-up is pretty decent too with Princess Superstar, Gareth Emery & GaryDJ.

Zouk Mainroom: DJ Joey G of Channel [V] fame will get the party started and set the pace for UK’s favourite DJ Matt Darey, a chameleon of sound whose productions have been a major influence to the industry today. Next up is DJ Seb Fontaine who has made his mark since his residencies at CREAM and BBC Radio1. Last but not least presenting trance wonder boy Gareth Emery (ranked #34 in the DJ Mag Top 100 Poll), tipped by Paul van Dyk as the artist to breakthrough in 2007, who will take you to the finish line!

Velvet Underground: Presenting the one and only female DJ for the night, Princess Superstar who is renowned worldwide for her mash-ups between hip-hop, electro and rock. She has performed with N.E.R.D, Bjork, Z-Trip and KRS-1 and her remake of “Exceeder – Mason vs. Princess Superstar” debuted at #3 on the UK pop charts!

The Loft: Bounce to the funky house beats of GaryDJ, an accomplished DJ who has remixed tracks for the likes of Jamiroquai, Destiny’s Child and Maxwell, followed by a kaleidoscope of sounds delivered by DJ Jeremy Boon, resident DJ of Velvet Underground Singapore.

Terrace Bar: Chill out to Zouk resident DJs while taking a break from non-stop partying and try your skills at the party’s unique interactive zones.

Speedzone Tour 2007

They are giving away 1,000 FREE tickets too on the website for the first 1,000 people to register.

http://www.speedzonetour.com

(Beginning 20 September 2007. Ticket availability is on a first-come, first-serve basis.)

Alternatively, be as early as possible and purchase your ticket at the door for only RM40 (for Zouk Mainroom + The Loft + Terrace Bar), with two complimentary drinks.

IMPORTANT: The parties are open to partygoers 21 and above ONLY, all ticket collections and purchases will be strictly dependant on the display of a valid photo ID. Velvet underground will only be open to those OVER 25.

Are you going?

If so I'll see you there!

Laundry Bar @ The Curve - The Launch - April 17th

So last night...it was Monday night and I was at the opening of the Laundry Bar at The Curve in Mutiara Damansara, just next to Fitness first, it was a dual opening Italianies and a retro urban bar called "Laundry".

Which is indeed an odd name, as many people walking past proclaimed "Why this Dobi so big one?"

So basically it was loads of booze provided by Laundry and loads of food provided by Italianies? A sure winner indeed.

Got there around 9.30pm starving to death hoping there was some food, bumped into TV Smith and Midnite Lily, also the writer of Kaki Cucuk Langit a very good blog (Yeah go read it now, now now) and another fella who's birthday is the same day as KinkyBlueFairy, muteaudio.

Laundry Bar Peeps

Also apparently I saw KinkyPugKevin and he saw me...but er well we didn't talk.

It's a nice looking place, I label it retro urban, unfaced cement walls, shiny aluminiumish things hanging around and a nice wooden/plush seating area at the back.

Laundry Bar

It was of course very packed, with the free beer and food, Malaysians all come out the woodwork!

The bar staff did a commendable job of keeping everyones thirst quenched.

Laundry Barman

The beer did just keep coming...and coming and coming!

Laundr Bar Beer

Unfortunately the first few rounds of food were provided with no cutlery...so we kind of had to make do..

Finger Food

And as you can see, it isn't really your typical finger food.

This creamy cheesy tomatoey chicken thing was REALLY FREAKING GOOD, sinful, but good.

Chicken Thing

Yes food, more food and more food, there was some awesome meatball things in a creamy sauce with some tomatoe garnish and a big slice of mushroom in the middle, those were nice.

Here we have some prawn pasta, lasagna and the creamy cheesy chicken thing. All good apart from the Lasagna, which was too salty..a little slip on the seasoning there.

Laundry Food

The Tiramisu was really good, definately the best one I've had in Malaysia so far, it actually tasted like Tiramisu should and had the requisite alchohol in it :)

Laundry Tiramisu

Then as we were about to burst...along came the most enourmous peice of strawberry cheescake, which was also fantastic.

Laundry Cheescake

Yeah they just kept bringing more food after that, with some kind of caesar salad with calamari on top.

Calamari Caesar Salad

Me eating and Kimberlycun pouting.

Me and Kim

I did appreciate the effort they put into the decor, gave the place a nice feel.

Pillow

I've got purple shiny disco balls!

Shiny Disco Balls

There was a really cool live band playing some old skool retro ragga/reggae kind of tunes, nice music, great singers.

After that, to my absolute surprise the DJ busted open the set with some hardcore drum and bass, I was like ZOMG WTF LOLPLS I LOVE DnB.

After that came some Funky House and some UK represented 2 step Garage.

Laundry Bar

Laundry bar, it was teh fun.

I shall go again (especially because it's like 5 minutes from my place and they should give me a lifetime of free booze for writing such nice things).

Laundry Bar does have a rarely updated blog here.

Holiday night out at Thai Club and BEST SUPPER EVAR!

So it was a holiday.

So I didn't get drunk this weekend.

So my liver was feeling too healthy.

So Paul and I decided WE SHOULD GO OUT.

We originally planned to go to Rum Jungle, as I've never been there before I wanted to check it out, but the 'contact' there was a fucking asshole, as we were 15 minutes late he claimed we cancelled the table.

So then it was basically FUCK RUM JUNGLE, FUCK THEM IN THEIR STUPID ASSES.

And off to Thai Club we went, upstairs, Thai Cowboy Cafe or whatever it's homo name is.

It was pretty good, with some decent music and quite a crowd, probably due to the holiday next day, many people had the same idea as us.

We got a free mini bottle of Chivas with our big one, so cute

Mini Chivas

I don't know who ended up with it, probably KY the sneaky bugger.

We had half a bottle of something else too..and cutest Suan evar?

Jim and Suan

There was of course hot chicks..

Hot Chicks

And handsome guys..

Handsome Guys

Following the fairly healthy amount of alchohol, we proceeded to the best after drinking supper place in the world, petaling street, for Siu Yuk Min and Low Shui Fan.

This is seriously best after drinking, salty, tasty, oily and rich.

Siu Yuk Min

The mouse tails were much better than last time too, tastier and better texture.

Low Shui Fan

Really good, fun night out :)

If you want to go there, the street is actually parallel to Petaling Street, the one just before.

Head towards Petaling Street from Pudu, and take a left as soon as you pass the Nando's there, and head to the end of the street, pass one of the dudes a couple of bucks for 'watching' your car, and feast up.

Clubbers haven.

Clubbing, Prawns and Pwns.

Well it's been a good weekend, and it's not over yet!

It's past 5am and I'm sitting here listening to some old school best of Otis Reading (yeah I got eclectic tastes), chatting complete bollocks to some random stranger on MSN and well writing my blog (duh).

You can consider the below Dim Sum post the first of a series of my favourite things to eat in KL mostly, probably the rest of Malaysia and the rest of the world too (when I go back to UK).

Friday night, had some good lala (mussels/clams) cooked with curry powder, curry leaves, garlic and some other magic ingredients...will take pics one day as it's one of my favourite foods.

After that had an offer to join a party in KL, haven't been drinking or clubbing or dancing for quite some time, so I collected my hombres and off we went.

Also picked up FireAngel on the way, I can confirm she is hot, and can dance REAL good..

So good in fact she got picked up by a hot chick that unbuttoned her shirt and waved her (non-existent) cleavage at our dear FireAngel.

I on the other hand, got picked up by some scrawny sausage jockey who I wouldn't even want to fuck if I was into uphill gardening.

Suan turned up late, and pissed as usual.

We drunk quite a lot of beer, as either they mispriced it, or it was just really fucking cheap, but it only cost $62RM for 2 jugs...which is the price of 1 jug in most clubs.

KY and TheGreatFaggot graced us with their prescence too....and pigs can fly, the faggot danced.

Kimberly was also there, as chun as always..hubba.

And we finally got to meet the infamous super hot Jayna, yes, indeed folks, she is hot.

Got a bit drunk, danced quite a lot, had fun anyway was a good crowd, decent music and for once we were somewhere that wasn't too packed.

The joint was named La Casa (Yeah classy I know 'The House' I guess they think it's cool or something..), it's just behind Passion, which was surprisingly empty, I guess it's because of the new kid of the block, Rum Jungle, will have to check it out some day...but that night it was totally packed.

Got home pretty late, slept at 5am I guess, and woke up some time in the afternoon to read FireAngels rant which I totally knew would be there.

Got up and grabbed myself a prosperity burger...3rd day in a row, sad I know but I'm kinda hooked, when they are really fresh they are REALLY good.

Had my car washed, they still can't get the rims totally clean...stupid racing brakes.

The faggot finally got himself a car, quite a neat looking car too..

Imagine that...it's even got a freaking LCD screen inside so you can watch VCD's in the back (Pr0n anyone?)..

Congrats dude, it's about fucking time.

We headed to the Asam Prawn place again, this time hoping they actually had some prawns (last time they sold out, so we ended up with Asam Fish).

We had ourselves some phat drinks, that's phat with a capital P and H.

And ordered up a storm with the normal veges and tofu, and Braised Pork Belly (Kao Yuk)..

Yeah baby, we finally got the freaking Asam Prawns we had been yearning for since last year ;)

As usual when we are hungry and attack a table full of food...it's inevitable you will see this..

We had some side bets aswell regarding the faggots ability to finish his giant Orange Juice (he normally can't)..

But well he did it, congrats again dude.

Full pics in the Food Gallery as always.

After that headed to USJ to catch Liverpool vs Man Utd....first half was good, action tailed off in the second half, Liverpool couldn't even put a goal in against 10 men..

And no, this doesn't mean I'm a football fan, I can just tolerate watching now and then :)

When the game was over, it was time for some hardcore DOTA, mostly came up against noobs though and ended up pwning everyone left right and centre..

Hard to get a good game nowdays.

On another note a random hot chick (Flirt in a Skirt) made a link button for me, feel free to use it if you wish to pimp my blog (DO IT, YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!).

On another random note, I wanted to post this..

100 Things we didn't know last year [BBC]

Those of note for me are...

8. Brazilians are the nationality most likely to read spam. (Dumb fuckers)

31. Herrings break wind to communicate and keep the school together. (Imagine THAT, synchronised farting as a means of communiation)

38. Yoda was based on Albert Einstein. (I did wonder)

63. Just one in a hundred workers goes to the pub for their lunch, according to a study. The same proportion spend lunch having sex. (Lucky bastards - that goes for both..)

74. Lasagne has replaced chicken tikka massala as the favourite dish of Britons. (I always tell people curry is the national dish of the UK, looks like the worm has turned)

100. Bill Clinton sent just two e-mails while he was president. (Damn Luddites)

And well here I am, back to reality back at home, feeling stoical and much better than I did for the last couple of days.

Life is good.

Thanks for participating in this particularly long and pointless post.

Cheers my dears.
