My Experience with E-Filing at LHDN/Hasil PJ

So it’s tax season as most of you well know, everyone is scrambling to get their Borang BE and get it filled in or trying out the new E-filing system (which works surprisingly well).

Earlier today I headed to LHDN PJ (Just off the LDP opposite side of Giant near to MBPJ Stadium), conveniently it’s marked as a POI in Garmin so it was easy to go there!

LHDN PJ

It was too busy, getting the PIN for the E-filing was extremely easy and there was even a room where you could fill in your E-filing and there were people around to answer any questions or queries you might have.

It took me less than 30 minutes to queue up and get the PIN and fill out my E-filing tax submission for 2008 – very effecient and easy!

It was a little busier downstairs, It took me about 35 minutes to get to the counter.

I took a ticket to check on my Tax statement and see if was all in order. Sadly, it was not. I was sure I’d filed 2004, 2005 and 2006 previously and settled any outstanding amounts in February 2008.

It turns out 2006 perhaps wasn’t accepted, because it wasn’t marked as filed.

So I have to fill in Borang BE for 2006 and 2007. I’ll probably do them in May after the busy period, when someone can sit down and help me complete the forms.

All in all it was very easy, everyone was very pleasant and helpful – professional service through-out.

Mark me impressed!

Anyway don’t leave it to the last minute, especially for E-filing as the servers crashed last year towards the deadline due to overload and I’d guess they could well crash again.

Of course they are efficient, with the amount of tax they get, they better be efficient!

I’ll say this tho – it is strange that they advise that in order to view pop-ups (for timeout reminders) they ask you to turn ON the pop up blocker – and provide specific instructions to do so 🙂

Friedbeef: Yeah there’s still some odd things about the whole setup. Last minute = nothanks tho.

I’ve used e-filing ever since it was first introduced (2006 was it). This year I completed my e-filing (+ the wife’s) 3 minutes before midnight on 30th April (last day!). Access speed wasn’t flying but it was surprisingly still workable. Of course it’s not a good idea to repeat this last minute exercise next time.
