From what I understand, the erection is because he is excited (of course) and they get erections very easily. The reason for him sitting the way he is showing his "stuff" is because he IS the Alpha Male...the picture you took is INCREDIBLE. All females and (I think) a lower-ranking male, the Alpha standing that way, with an erection. He is the boss of his troop.
