Samsung WCG (World Cyber Games) Malaysia - 2008
I used to play a lot of DoTA, DoTA Classic of course when it was still on RoC. I'm really not into all this new DoTA Allstars nonsense, too much farming, item stacking, and endless gang banging.

The games just take too long over an hour on average, a high level of RoC DoTA took only about 20-25 minutes.
I even have quite a famous page hosting DoTA Classic maps. Back in the days when it was getting big I used to play 22 hours straight in Horus cafe in SS2, I even got up to the level where I was playing in International tournaments online. It was pretty fun and extremely competitive, it sucked playing from Malaysia though when everyone else had 45ms pings and mine was at least 350ms!
That's where tournaments like the WCG or World Cyber Games come in, they level the playing field and everyone can get on a LAN and compete on an even level - then it comes down to pure skills!
It's coming up soon August 15-17th 2008 at Mid Valley.

You can find more info at the Samsung WCG Microsite here:
Unfortunatley for me they only play DoTA Allstars nowdays, along with some cool games like FIFA Soccer 2008 and Need For Speed: ProStreet.
Don't forget you can also win some awesome prizes by Challenging the Nuffnang Team and fellow Nuffnangers in Counter-Strike.
Thanks to Samsung, on the 16th of August 2008, there is going to be 8 teams of Nuffnang Bloggers pitched against each other in an elimination based tournament for Counterstrike!!

Ah, I know your pain too. Was in 2 international clans at that time, GPZ and AGRO. But the delay sucked big time man. I still remember when we used to bump into each other in pub games. Nowadays there are alot of noobs and bad mannered kids on bnet.

I was never much into DOTA, was more of an old skool player of Counter-Strike and Starcraft. I started playing pretty early, during Quake II on a Singaporean server. I only started playing competitively in Australia (Pacific Gamers League) during Quake III: Arena where I ranked 42nd. I'm rather proud of my ranking considering fatal1ty (Jonathan Wendel - really famous pro player) was there as well as the big names in pro gaming. =D

KY: Hehe yah hardcore man those days.
Shin0bu: Hehe yah I remember AgrO, played against them a few times. Yah it's pretty crappy on there now, all attitude and no skills.
Huai Bin: Yah I started out playing Quake II online on 56.6k dialup when 200-300ms pings were normal. That's before most people's time though, I played some clan match against fatal1ty before - his rail gun should have been illegal. I got bored by Quake III though and Unreal, QII was much better.
