As what Kevin has mentioned, due to the lack of development, many has left. I guess it's only left with the retirees while most of the young ones are in the metropolis to earn a living. Never been to Ipoh though but from the pictures, it looks like a very nice quiet peaceful town which is the best for relaxation or retiring age people :D However I guess I'm still impartial towards my own hometown as Pulau Redang is just so nearby along with the boatmaking herritage there hehe.
