Damnit – No more updates for the moment!

Until I get a new chair..

I was busily editing some pictures, getting ready to post then I heard some odd creak from the chair – I turned it upside down to have a look but it seemed fine all the mechanical parts were in place and there were no loose screws or bolts..

So I sat back down, then I realised I was at a odd angle, as I reached down to feel the settings I crashed backwards and landed on the floor.

Broken Chair

I then rolled up to check out the situation, the chair was a gonner, the 4-way plastic part at the bottom had snapped completely.

Chair Snapped

Just when I have no money to replace it – what a pain in the ass! Now I have to get out there and find a new chair. I went to AM today – but they were closed. I’ll have to drop by again tomorrow.

My trusty chair that’s seen me through 3 years of blogging and picture editing has bitten the dust.

Anyone want to buy me a chair for xmas 🙂

Mine always broke like that too until I got fed up and use a plastic chair, with arm rest one still. And it lasted longer.

Keep the old chair around. You’re going to find that the parts come in handy. The one I’m sitting in that the moment, has parts of it from three of its predecessors. They just don’t build them very well.

Wow! Luckily you were not hurt! Nowadays things are manufactured to last only for a while, with cheap quality material. And most of the things that come with warranty would just break, the moment the warranty expires –> I think this is a scam, purposely designed that way so we will have to buy more!

ehhh i got those without wheels and metal legs, like a c shaped kind of feet. those which offices usually use as visitor chairs.

if you want wheelies, i think 5 wheelers and metal bases are good, plastics don’t last. 🙂

  19. Chatts December 11, 2007 at 7:59 pm #

Repair that chair engineer! I’m sure you’d save a lot of money looking only for the part that broke instead of buying a whole new chair.

Sympathise with you buddy, they make those chairs for sissy feather weights nowadays!

  20. velvet December 12, 2007 at 3:32 am #

    ouch! that must’a hurt!
oh well, happens alot at call centers you know. (even the skinny ones)ive seen a dozen or so at work..

I used to have a chair at work that I loved leaning RIGHT back in. One day I heard a weird PING sound. I got off it, and the think fell apart. I felt so lucky I wasn’t leaning all the way back in it at that moment. I mean, the seat literally fell off the stand.

I’m hoping my boss will be good on her promise and will give me one of the old chairs from work. I’m still sitting on an old wooden chair [made in Malaysia mind you]. It’s lasted me four / five years, but is quite uncomfortable and not good for computers. [Non ajustable] 🙂

Best of luck in your hunt for a new chair! 🙂

Jason: I’ve gone for a decent one with metal legs this time, just posted about it 🙂

Bithead: I don’t have space to keep it, and I hope I don’t need the parts for my new chair anyway!

pinksterz: Hehe yeah will miss it.

suanie: Sucks eh, luckily didn’t hurt this time.

    piccola: Fairly gentle landing thankfully.

    LMF: No…I’m just heavy 😛

slacker: Hehe thanks, appreciate the offer.

KY: Yah might stop me breaking the next one haha.

Cruise: Hahaha – nah no damage.

Suzette: Yah agree, have stumped up for a good one this time though so hopefully it’ll last.

dcyk: New one has metal legs and wheels, will see how it goes.

Paul Tan: Yah that’s the one I bought, ErgoHuman.

feyry: Play Dough? That’s a new one..

Asyraf Lee: Got one similar to Aeron 🙂

Kuzco: Hehehe, yeah was good to play again on Tues.

Chatts: Time to buy a new one I think, if not suffer the fate of NSS chairs over and over haha. All metal frame this time.

velvet: Yup, flaws in the plastic I think…in my old office we broke about 12 in a year.

Dabido: Yah lucky you didn’t get hurt.
