Sometimes I HATE PR and Events People

I’ve written about this before some time back, it’s happening less frequently I have to admit..but it still happens.

Remember “Yue May Not Mail Me Anymore”, well another occurence happened today. Even worse they had my real e-mail address as I have dealt with the agency before.

The agency incidentally who likes to poach jobs from other people by undercutting, then getting inexperienced staff to do the work – professionalism? Appropriate? I’ll leave that up to you.

Anyway I’ve been to some events by this company, and they were decent..unfortunately their standards seem to have declined and whoever they have approaching bloggers now is a complete fucking tool.

Picture this:

Subject: Urgent. Please Get Back to me

Content:

Hey,

I’m from RetardedAgency and we will be having an event soon. Could you please help us feature this event on your Blog. Hope it isn’t too much hassle. Would really appreciate it. Please contact Dumb Fuck (03) 2xx3 2xx7 for further information. Or you can just reply my email. 🙂 Thanks a blast. Hope you response asap.

Etc etc standard press release about the event.

The funny thing? I tried to reply to her to tell her what a dimwit she was….as it was so urgent, and it BOUNCED – can you beat that!

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

Stupid.Dickface@my.retarderdagency.com

Technical details of permanent failure:
PERM_FAILURE: SMTP Error (state 13): 550 5.1.1 is not a valid mailbox

Anyway back to the original mail, do you notice the lack of name, lack of introduction, lack of personalisation?

Does it smell like spam to you? Sure does to me.

Can you miss the retarded English?

Thanks a blast. Hope you response asap.

Darling that should be thanks a bunch and hope you respond ASAP.

And the tone of the e-mail, do I look like a push web site for your shitty press releases? There’s this thing called an ADVERTORIAL ok, if you want your shitty event on my site you can PAY like everyone else.

Or if it’s interesting, I’ll write about it anyway for free.

If not you can fuck off to https://www.prweb.com and publish your shit there.

unlikely it’s a spam, but certainly some raw bitches with single digit IQ hired by cheapskate jackass with 1 ball thinking paying any big tit whores can do marketing – well.

if you finally get hold of her email. let us know and we will sign her up for the bogelindah group and the company will get 2 hundreds porn advertisements a day.

Haha. I feel your pain. I don’t know why PR companies here seem to be cutting corners recently and hiring new people who can neither speak nor write well.

It’s gotten to the point that I’m beginning to think they hire newbies on the basis of how good they look in an undertaker suit.

Don’t get me started on how sucky their press releases are.

I’m sorry you have to go through such annoying episode again. it sure takes only one drop of mouse shit to spoil the whole pot of porridge!!

Just reply, and cc the email to the general email of the company, with a ‘i-m-so-sorry-that-your-england-sux-n-i-dun-give-a-flying-fuck-abt-ur-event’ comment. I’m sure they will get the jist of it.

Good job. I daresay you’re letting them go too easily.

I got the same damn email except it’s “ugent” instead of “urgent”.

    Shameful. PR agency konon.

I’m sick and tired of these idiots who assume that ALL bloggers are desperate wannabes from the bottom of the food chain who will jump at WHATEVER shit they throw at us.

    Fucking insulting and disrespectful jackasses.

If you don’t like it, just delete their mail. Actually, this is a good thing if you see it from another way, this means that your blog is famous and for the traffic and coverage, people want free advertising. 😆

This comment has nothing to do with this post. I notice that you use the Tamron 17-50 lens. I’m looking into the possibility of getting one. You seem to be somewhat experienced with it; so I hope you don’t mind sharing your knowledge thus far. What do you NOT like about this lens? If you have to pick now, would you still go with this lens? I’ve also heard that the AF is kinda noisy. What’s your op on that? Thanks.

Since you love comments so much, here’s one more. About your “Can you miss the retarded English?” comment …, seriously, you are in a foreign country. A little respect, man. I mean, can you even write in retarded Bahasa Malaysia or Mandarin?? It is so taken for granted that non native English speakers should always be able to speak English (and perfect English at that); but it is a such a novelty if a native English speaker is able to say a few phrases of a “foreign” language. I understand your rant about the spamming and such but when it comes to dissing locals for the way they write YOUR native language, I really shouldn’t even try to understand.

yeah right, kimberly’s the most courteous one ever. wait, she has been the only one. tsk tsk.

these ppl are mostly interns la i think… high turnover of staff in most pr agencies that’s why.

Back in the 80s, I recall a humorous occasion. A PR agency sent a Press Release to a newspaper and signed of For Details, Call Ms Soh An Soh, Pubic Relations Manager.. We had a good laugh when we saw the mail and forgave the sender (via snail mail) because in those days, PR was not highly placed. It was a sidekick to advertising. A small sidekick, or in some pathetic firms, an afterthought and no more. Looks like not much has changed since the days when pubs advertise “Public Relations Officers Wanted: Must speak English, 10, 5′-3″ tall and Good Looking” (when they were looking for GROs). It is the dimwitted ones that are causing a dent in the image of the profession. Your encounter with Ms Spammy offers interesting food for thought – for those in PR that is.

Wow thats just so retarded. Too bad the email bounced, else I would have replied why not they make an event for me for free instead since they want free promotion of their event.

Public Relations: Management function which evaluates public attitudes, identifies the policies and procedures of an individual or an organization with the public interest, and plans, executes, and evaluates a program of action to earn public understanding and acceptance.
