NISMO – At least it’s a Nissan this time

It’s been a damn long time since I’ve displayed a fugly car around these parts, I guess you get desensitized to them after seeing fugly beng buckets every freaking day.

Well here’s one for prosperity.

NISMO

Seen any good ones lately?

At least this is a Nissan…I’ve seen NISMO stickers on a Saga, Toyota, Ford and various others cars..

Do they not know NISMO means NISsan MOtorsports.

It’s like all these Waja with diffuser blades on the roof, do they not know they aren’t effective until around 220km/h at which point their car would have already fallen apart.

Crazy I tell you.

    Go get a Smart Tag!

Are the diffuser blades those vortex generators on the leading edge of the rear windscreen?

Well, IMHO one of the things to do is just to patch up the underbody, then maybe their tins can hit 220.

Ha!Ha! I saw all sort of sticker on all sort of car & bike. I even saw a toyota logo on a modernas bike! Have a nice weekend!

The rooftop diffuser actually vortex generator. No idea what that means though.

    What they said:

Its actually called a vortex generator, more commonly found on the wings of airplanes and of recent on Mitsubishi’s Lan Evo MR/FQ editions …

More info can be found via this link: [WARNING: PDF FILE]

    https://www.mitsubishi-motors.com/corporate/about_us/technology/review/e/pdf/2004/16E_03.pdf

Oh just to save you all the download and reading time

Here’s the copy and paste from the pdf file

‘Application of the VGs of the optimum shape determined through the abovementioned analyses to the Mitsubishi LANCER EVOLUTION showed a 0.006 reduction in both the drag coefficient and lift coefficient.’

‘Factors contributing to the effect of VGs were verified by conducting measurement of total pressure, velocity distribution and CFD. As a result of the verifications,it is confirmed that VGs create streamwise vortices, the vortices mix higher and lower layers of boundary layer and the mixture causes the flow separation point to shift downstream, consequently separation region is narrowed. From this, we could predict that VGs cause the pressure of the vehicle’s
entire rear surface to increase therefore decreasing drag, also the velocity around the rear spoiler to increase, and the lift to decrease.

The delta-wing-shaped VG, which demonstrated high effectiveness in this research, is planned for commercialization as an accessory for sedans after slight
modifications to the shape with respect to design, legal conformance and practicality.’

BTW I’m using Touch ‘n Go and Autopass.

Are rear spoilers merely for decoration or do they actually increase the aerodynamic efficiency?

Would somebody please post a picture of vortex generators?

Shaolin I’m also driving a Satria Neo, are you driving an auto or manual kereta?

Dr. Tan: I’m using touch and go, this was ages ago April 2006. Yeah vortex generators, waste of time on most cars.

HORNY ANG MOH: Thanks man, hope you had a good weekend πŸ™‚

LMF: Something from aircraft to control the airflow, you can read it on Wikipedia – Vortex Generator.

foxtrotecho: Thanks – you could have just linked to the wiki article πŸ˜€

easyriderlovescs: They increase downforce above a certain speed, below that they just waste petrol, especially since these are light weight ‘GT’ wings…they are meant for lightened cars – not heavy sedans. Mine only has manual version, it’s year 2000 Satria GTi – not Neo.

Looks like the Sg Buloh toll.

What to do…in Boleh-land, it’s important to “ada-gaya” first before going for the substance.

And ironically, those who usually go for the former usually wouldn’t have the latter to begin with…

  9. ShaolinTiger August 16, 2007 at 11:38 am #

yc: Yeah end of LDP toll, going back towards PJ. So many people add bits to their car without even knowing what they are for..
