Porn up Rape Down! Malaysians Need MORE PORN

With all this serious shite going on, I thought I’d better post something pseudo-politic and pretend that I know everything about everything like all those socio-politikus bloggers..

Anyway the point is a recent academic paper was published (this is not some tabloid crap article) that porn means less rape, I tend to agree.

The incidence of rape in the United States has declined 85% in the past 25 years while access to pornography has become freely available to teenagers and adults. The Nixon and Reagan Commissions tried to show that exposure to pornographic materials produced social violence. The reverse may be true: that pornography has reduced social violence.

In laymans terms:

More porn = more wanking = more wanking = less horny feelings = less rape!

I’m a genius.

Funny enough the BBC also asked is porn good for society?

But frankly..this is a serious issue, the rape rates in Malaysia are terrible, I believe this is due to the closed nature of society and the religious state government which marks any close contact as haram.

This makes people sexually repressed, humans have to fuck, men need to have sex it’s a basic function that needs to be satisfied, if you don’t give them the societal freedom to satisfy their base urges…they will do what they have to do.

And rape someone, maybe it’s their daughter, or sister, or mother..or some stranger.

But it will happen, and it does happen…all the time.

Porn is closely linked to this, if you are horny watch some porn on TV and jerk off, don’t go and rape someone.

The paper is located here

BTW please do comment on my blog more, I know loads of people are reading..I thrive on comments, more comments = more motivation to post..I like things to be interactive

  9. Yeelin January 23, 2007 at 2:24 pm #

I think the government is taking too seriously about the ‘sexual’ issue in Malaysia, I don’t know what is the reason exactly… all the movies and magazines are heavily sensored, even kissing scene… If it is to reduce the rape rate, apparent it doesn’t help. So what really is the reason behind? hrmmm…

Being too lazy to check the link to the article, I’m going to post a view that may or may not be a little controversial.

I know that a number of years ago they did link ‘violent porn’ to violent people. [This was porn that included beastiality, and people being beaten up or faking being beaten up during sex etc]. Bascially, things which would make a normal person very ill. [Well, it would make me ill anyway. I’m very squeemish].

So, I’d have to ask whether the study took this into account. [Like I said, I’m too lazy to read it]. But, if the article is just talking porn in general, then it doesn’t surprise me. But, it might also explain the drop in population levels in countries with high porn content. For instance, Japan has one of the lowest birth rates in the world at present [with it being almost at crisis level for those in the future], and it has porn available at almost every shop that sells magazines, books or videos etc. So, the high pron, high masterbation rates in modern countries means most males are getting rid of those excessive hormones which would lead to both rape and sex with their significant other.

So, I’d imagine that maybe what we’re looking at a ,’soft porn, normal porn’ = good. While the Hard Core violent type porn would probably still be producing a lot of the violent people, or attracting them. [The study found they equated to each other. Some took it to mean that it created violent people, but I don’t recall the study stating that].

[And let’s face it, people who are most likely atracted to that sort of violent porn, I would guess, probably already have a lot of psychological problems that they need to see to anyway.]

So, I’d hope that violent porn would still be banned in most places [just in case it does produce some people … actually, I seem to remember a ‘desensitising arguement’ in the study, so it is possible it was porducing some ‘violent people’].

Though of course, internet porn is banned in Australia [but you can still buy it in magazine form, and I’m sure not all Porn Videos have been banned, though the ban includes porn in digital form, so I’m sure a lot of porn DVD’s might be banned … plus I’m sure most teenagers are avoiding payin any attention to the law].

For those unable to get their daily does of porn though, maybe the best thing they could do is take up an arts course whcih has a ‘Nude Drawing’ or ‘Nude Painting’ component. After all, nude people then become art and not porn. 🙂

[Which in a way is weird, as I was reading some contemporary art books jsut now, and a lot of contemporary art is full of porn …I mean naked people.] 🙂

  14. Aunty Ningku January 23, 2007 at 5:33 pm #

I agree its “TRUE” more porn + wank, less rape…. however anal has also gone up. More anal sex porn in website encourage ppl wanna try it … But the problem with porn is dat is not real. Imagine sticking your dick up there and pull out with a lump of feaceal material on the tip of dick which in reality = v.dirty, smelly, not nice + more disease + gf or bf ruptured anus cannot shit like a normal person = anally scarred for live, eeks.

  15. Yatz January 23, 2007 at 5:54 pm #

yea..i do think the problem is, the more u restrict, the higher the curiosity lies beneath ones mind..
hence, rape cases in Malaysia are not dropping..

What use is porn if those Mat Sohais at kampung don’t even know what’s an internet?

I’d say, do it at the root. Teach them how to jack off at school.

errr anyone read any cases of rape up north or east these days? the are severely lacking in porns …

read the papers on this family where the wife married thrice, with the current husband of 69, which the mother has a mother of 62 i think …

the fucking sick part is where the wife gets the daughter of 8 to commit incest with this 3rd husband of 69 … the daughter is only 8! then after that, both parents make the daughter of 8 watch them have doing it …

the fucking old hack should be whipped to death … and the mother … let her see the husband get whipped to death and then let her live the rest of her life in solitary confinement …

Access to unrestricted material is one thing, but without the education to support it, it falls short of a solution.
Much of the porn being made in America these days is of the “Gonzo” variety, which is debasing and crude, and will inevitably lead to backlashes from countries which are already closed minded.
There are however, new mainstream films, such as Shortbus (highly recommended) and 9 Songs (less so) which were the first to pass the British Board of Censors uncut. Shortbus in particular is hardcore, but explores a complex sequence of relationships and porn is not “the message”.
But if children are taught that sex is either wrong, or merely procreational duty, and coupled with feelings of guilt if their natural urges as adults are then suppressed, then yes; the tendency for the uneducated to commit sexual assault, even on family members, is higher than many more liberal countries.
I believe the answer lies in better, freer education, less religious dogmatism, and less censorship of real movies (not necessarily porn – although my Pasar Malam has loads of DVDs on display every week, so it is hardly unobtainable) so that the real world “outside” can be understood.
Back in the day, we were also able to use our imagination to have a guilt free wank. Porn was not required.

BTW – any puns such as “backlash” and “uncut” are all deliberate 😉
Want comment – got comment! 🙂

gee, great theory and i do think that’s true anyway.

everyone has their own curious young mind. think porn will help to reduce raping by killing those unnecessary curiosity.

suanie: The Internets is built on pr0n!

slacker: Sadly yah there is cases like that too.

Mossie`Ol Chin: Would you buy it?

Yeelin: The problem as mentioned is the tie between religion and state, which is always unhealthy.

Dabido (Teflon): Yah what I think you are talking about is the issue of deviation and sexual behaviour outside the normal (scat, violence, animals etc). I also believe this should be controlled and not encouraged. There are issues with deviant porn and the kind of things that it might spark in peoples minds, but normal porn without the above elements, I believe should be freely available. You can also look at it the same way though, people that like animals should have access to beastie pr0n so they can jack off to it rather than raping their dog.

Aunty Ningku: That’s another issue entirely!

Andrew: Yah, that’s my point more societal repressions = more sexual repression = more sexual frustration.

michaelooi: Pr0n should be available without the Internets…I used to have access to porn when i was a youngster from mags and vhs videos.

Albert Ng: So if you post and people comments its mass masturbation? Blog bukkake?!

earl-ku: Yah those cases really make me feel sick man. Feel like some gang law..

Pinkfrog: Cos we all can’t afford Macs 😛 And Firefox am teh pwn!

Intensecure: It is a complex issue, I’ve simplified it to the base. Of course there are deeper social and group behaviours to consider. But yah my basic point is that, where there is repression, there is frustration. If you are taught sex is bad or dirty, it becomes so.

gaman: It would be if Malaysians were interested in anything but themselves (And their own opinions)..but they aren’t so it won’t be 😛

  29. Z January 24, 2007 at 11:48 am #

Hey, didn’t they have a report a few weeks ago saying that Kelantan has the most internet porn surfers in Malaysia? 😛

Jap porn….fascinating and bizzarre at times, but I can’t stand the screeching.

  30. sourmilk January 24, 2007 at 12:32 pm #

I think it works another way…

sien => watch porn => lagi sien => turn tv off => can’t eat anymore, mind too disrupted to even go out => less crime.

    I dunno, I’m a girl.

  31. wawaweewa January 24, 2007 at 1:16 pm #

another option to prevent rape case is legalize or decriminalize prostitution. at least, we have proper channel for sexual without commitments.

  32. Mydeen Aboo Backer January 24, 2007 at 1:16 pm #

Mydeen likes porn. In fact, Mydeen has considered replacing those boring WWE wrestling DVDs he plays at his shop with porn. But Mydeen’s customers like seeing big, sweaty men swear at each other and grope each other’s groins and limbs. Mydeen is always customer-centric.

But if white man wants some porn, Mydeen will gladly share his stash. Just ask for either Lynn, Amber or Ginger.

  33. lethal January 24, 2007 at 2:49 pm #

No chance in hell, not even when hell freezes over we gonna legalise porn in Malaysia. We are an islamic country that holds strong moral values and won’t comply to a seedier alternative when it comes to reducing rape in this country.

    Bullshit la.

First person to jump to the table and create an uproar if the word porn is mentioned would be Nik Aziz la, brandishing his keris, poking anyone that is coming his way… We won’t legalise porn, we will also separate women and men wherever they are, lining up in counters, lining up to take the bus, and the most recent one (it just an idea), separating the men and women dancing in clubs in Kelante. So many useless and redundant rules and restrictions in Malaysia, for us even to consider legalising porn is when Malaysia isnt an Islamic country anymore, which is like next to freakin’ never.

Its all about upbringing. I had a friend, while young the whole family would watch porn during free time (i dont recommend this for young couples with kids), i’m not saying its a bad thing, but it eliminates all curiosity when one is coming of age. So when we are busy exchanging porn during recess time at primary school backyard, he is busy chatting up girls. Porn just dun appeal to him anymore, i guess in some ways he matured way faster than any of us. Point being, the more we cover up sex, the more curious kids are. i mean, porn are easily accessible now (any vcd seller got their stash hidden underneath the car boot), any link/ads u click on the net leads u straight to porn sites. We don’t have these luxury back in the day. Imagine people living in kampungs, no vcd seller, no internet connection. Their sexual urges must be hitting the roof. How?? Most rape cases that i read of happens near kampung in some deserted rubber tapping farm. Kampung people too free la, idle mind is the devils workshop. Nothing to do, rape someone la. Or we can legalise prostitution la, like Singapore. Rape problems solved!

End words, upbringing & education la.

  34. Mydeen Aboo Backer January 24, 2007 at 6:13 pm #

    lethal,

Mydeen thought it was Hishamuddin who was brandishing a keris. Mydeen has never seen or heard of Nik Aziz brandishing a keris. Do you have you politicians mixed up then ?

  35. Rajan R January 24, 2007 at 7:41 pm #

You know the saying: correlation does not imply causation. While I sincerely doubt porn is behind rape (rape is common in pre-porn societies, after all), you must understand most rapists aren’t your typically sexually-repressed under-sexed men.

In any case, your argument is hurt because porn is freely available in Malaysia, regardless of its legality–any cybercafe, any pasar malam. Sure, 7-Elevens don’t sell Penthouse and Astro don’t have porno channels, but it doesn’t negate from the point that porn is readily available.

As for sex, while public intimacy is still frowned upon in many states, it doesn’t mean that fornication and adultery is rare–quite the contrary, prostitution is rife and even if you don’t sink that level, premarital sex isn’t that uncommon.

Yes, all these exist underground but they still exist. So if more sex and more porn reduces rape rates, rape shouldn’t be all that common in Malaysia.

Perhaps the researchers should see other trends in the time line they chose. Female participation in society have been increasing, sex education is taught in schools, parents become more involved in their child’s sexual upbringing (birds and the beast talk would be quite rare a couple generations ago).

  36. lethal January 25, 2007 at 10:36 am #

yeah mydeen, nik aziz didnt use the keris, but i’m adding everything into account…:) U know la, at one point they all go melayu power and start taking out kerisses and stuff…

  37. the drowmage January 25, 2007 at 12:55 pm #

Nice take on the porn issue… it does seem interesting that the more repressive states in this country (or is it the more backward, repressive population) have higher counts of rape cases than the others.

But I agree with Dabido’s comments, less violent porn is better; anyone who enjoys watching this category of porn needs a serious head check.

I say that if you try to stop people from doing something, they want to try it out even more.

    Just my two cents…

  38. bodicea January 26, 2007 at 2:39 am #

    ok ok i comment.

i dunno man. there’s just something disturbing abt knowing that my younger bro watches porn.

but i suppose if it’s for the sake of lessening the rape cases (and hence lessening my sadistic wants for rapists to not only be castrated, but also be extremely sexually impotent for life), i could support porn.

but only if nobody’s forced into it

  39. ShaolinTiger January 26, 2007 at 2:02 pm #

Z: Yah that’s true, back to my main message..Repression = Frustration!

sourmilk: Girls different la, you don’t have that built in instinct to spread your seed.

wawaweewa: Yah that definitely should be legal, protect the consumer and the hookers.

Mydeen Aboo Backer: Don’t worry, once connected to the Internets porn is plentiful.

lethal: Root problem is state and religion being governed the same way..

Rajan R: Of course causation is not always shown, but still the root message is the same and the root cause of the issue can be attributed along those lines (including all the sub-issues like education, open society, sexual education and removing ignorance).

the drowmage: Thanks. But yeah basic human instinct, especially for youngsters, the more you are told not to do it, the more you want to do it.

bodicea: Would you be more disturbed by him watching porn and releasing his frustrations with the aid of his hand, or by thinking about raping someone or fantasising about those females closest to him? I think the premise of it all is society should be open about sex, then the problems such as rape won’t be such a big issue.

  40. jwen88 February 23, 2007 at 2:58 pm #

haha dun really know would porn help to reduce the rape cases as some ppl they rape after they watched porn :p

  41. Shinky April 24, 2008 at 9:48 am #

As a bean counter, I would say, more porn = more sin tax = more country’s wealth = corruptions >.<“

  42. mushrooman February 26, 2009 at 10:05 am #

Firstly , Teflon > Net porn IS legal in aus .
I dont know where you got your info . A big pornsite owner now sponsors brisbane bulldogs football club .
A friend of mine makes about 4 mill/year,wt his sites , and now makes his own ,

    ………………………………………………………
There is also the rape you dont hear about that goes on inside the family ., usually blokes feeling up nieces or their daughters friends ..

A news story from kelantan you may remember from about 2 years back .
A 14yo boy and a 13yo girl were married at the advice of the local Imam because ……………wait for it ……………… THEY WERE SPENDING ALOT OF TIME TOGETHER…
Between the lines , the girl was up the duff and they were all friends and didnt want to rock the boat ,
Just another case of re-writing the books to suit the moment.

Lets look behind the scenes of these 2 kids
One of them or both were into sex somehow , generally when a young person that young is into sex , you will find they are the victim of molestation , either by the father or a close family friend .
Im sure the perpetrator was a carrot up the ass stuck up frustrated person himself who spent his time telling everyone else what they are doing wrong .
His wife was , probably typically “deadened to sex ” with he female circumcism and not even interested (another idea by males”) and was lousy in the sack. lay there like a sack of potatoes.
so what happens , Daddyo` starts to notice his neighbour daughter developing breasts and it starts to eat away at him .

Well he could have klikked on teenangels and had a good fantasy and a fletch . but he didnt ,
so one day he gets a bit friendly with the girl and she responds in a friendly way , so he takes it a bit further and further and next thing hes got her in a private room , I1ll leave the rest to your imagination.
The girl cant tell anyone but knew it was wrong , she becomes one of 2 things , totally frigid . or a nymphomaniac.

All this happened coz there was no porn for daddyo to jack off to.
Of course I could be wrong ,
She may have been impregnated by the fertility spirit .
(wonder if people still believe that crap anymore)

  43. nik April 2, 2009 at 6:49 pm #

Does more porn mean less rape? Does porn = rape? Ah the ever-so difficult question. “To shag, or not to shag” that is the question. I remember talking to my female friend about this, (no not about shagging you perverts) she put a valid point, rape is not about some guy living his sexual fantasies but it’s about over powering the opposite sex. Hmm…something to think about! There is a link in there to an entire study conducted on this. But take it with a pinch of salt, many times these are puff studies.
