When I first saw the movie trailer, I was excited. I mean, it's not everyday we get to watch a Malay movie that does not involve a "datuk", a "datin", a "tengku", or any stereotype characters at that. Hell I even forced my entire family to watch it premiere on TV, and even convince them that it MUST be GOOD. And then I was terribly disappointed on the first 45 minutes of watching the movie, it's like a slap to my face. The CG I can forgive cause for us, it's still something new and not as nearly prospective as in other countries. But I definitely CANNOT forgive the horrible soulless acting, and the copying western characters stuff. Seriously, we keep saying bad things about the Americans and then we copy their ideas? I mean, what's with the evil-matrix-twins-wannabe? And Prof Klon? I like Aznil, but his portrayal of the super-villain is unforgivable! That was a shame to the word EVIL... And Saiful Apek is the least likely candidate for a super-hero. I like Saiful too, but he was goddamn ANNOYING throughout the film. The humor was downright cheap and stupid, I didn't laugh at all, I shook my head all the time with those horrible punchlines.. So yes, Cicakman was a BIG disappointment to me. When Cicakman 2 came out, my excitement was stirred again. But then, someone warned me it was just like the first installment and I ended up not watching it at all. So I understand that Cicakman is intended to be sci-fi/comedy type of movie (that was the very reason why I was drawn to Cicakman at first), but the delivery of the movie is thoroughly bad and needed MORE improvement. Before any of you attack me with ".. you should support local movies.." let me tell you, I would like to support local movies with all my heart, but I am extremely frustrated at how terrible everything about the local movies are. It's like our directors and producers just make movies just for the sake of it. And nothing more. Meh, Cicakman was history, but what the heck, I’ll still write down my frustration here.
