Stranded in Dubai..

Ah shit, noobed it.

Was doing some server migration yesterday, with quite a few things going wrong as usual..

So when I arrived in Dubai I came online to sort them out, knocked out a few blog posts too, surfed etc normal stuff.

I sat by my departure gate, waiting for the queue to get a bit smaller, when there was just 5-6 people left to enter the gate...I went to the desk.

I then realised the queue I'd been watching was for a New York flight....not a Birmingham flight.

OH SHIT

Yes indeed, 100% oh shit moment.

I realised my flight wasn't in fact delayed, I was just watching the wrong gate.

It was one of those 11/13 gates with a peice on each side, my real gate was obscured behind the one I was watching.

Argh Internet is bad..bad.b.adddd

Work is bad!

Oh well at least I don't have to overnight here, the next Birmingham flight is in 7 hours..

I managed to get some free food aswell because of my 'delayed' flight..

I'm sitting on the floor now recharging my almost flat laptop battery.

They never put the powerpoints in convenient places, I always end up sitting on the floor leaning against a pillar.

Might try and get some sleep, without oversleeping and missing my flight AGAIN, which would be quite terrible.

Ah well, shit happens.

bro, the smoking room at Dubai airport has a power outlet and benches that you can move about.

Unless they've renovated the place since the last time I was there.

wingz: Yah thankfully didn't have to stay overnight in the airport.

    Nicktay: Thanks man!

earl-ku: Not really bro, I kinda mumbled something about missing my connecting flight, wrong gate..no apparent reason and acted stupid. Thankfully they didn't charge me a fortune for my mistake.

tigerjoe: Yah I know bro, I could barely stand it in there when I did smoke...now I've quit, it's a no go!

michael: Thanks, started off with some hearty free range pork chops last night and a fresh cream raspberry turnover!

spiller: Emirates, still my favourite airline.

terry: I'll see what I can do.

Hijackqueen: There's so many announcements in Dubai airport in so many languages you become oblivious to them all, they should realise that and be more selective.

FA: Tried using a Pentium II 333mhz with dialup lately? Didn't think so..

moo_t: It's all canggih now, the bags have bar codes and are automatically removed from the plane and stored, it was put back on the correct plane and arrived in Birmingham with me!

[LOL] I'm not laughing at you, man - I'm laughing with you. [snicker] My trip home from the UK last year was, ehhrr, amusing - at least it is now looking back...

At least you managed to get on another flight and you'll get a chance to relax once you're on board!

Ted: Yah yah bro...laugh it up! Yah was lucky to get another bird after a few hours. Back in blighty living it up now :) Well I would be if the weather would make its mind up...it's hot summer, then 5 minutes later windy cold raining..urgh. Welcome home indeed.
