Places to Eat in Mon’t Kiara – Maredo’s Argentinian Steakhouse

Awesome steak, best best steak evar. Eagle’s Nest was good, but I still prefer Maredo’s.

Maredo's Steakhouse

Really, I love it. It’s a little pricey for lunch but seriously I never regret it, it melts in your mouth.

Set Lunch

It comes in at RM24++ per person, not bad for the quality.

It’s different every week or so, first time I went was black pepper, second time was a bit fruity, 3rd was gravy and mushrooms…all goood.

The decor is nice with lots of wood and huge Argentinian prints everywhere.

Maredo's Decor

The set lunch comes with access to the Salad Bar which has some decent variety.

Salad Bar

This was my choice.

Salad

And yes this is what we came for, here’s my medium ‘doneness‘ Steak.

Medium Steak

An obligatory mystyle close up 😉

Steak Close-up

Of course I polished it all off, I could have whacked another one too…arghh heavenly.

Empty Plate

Writing this is making my stomach rumble..

Come join me for lunch!

Food seems to be the most popular request for me to write about…it’s just there’s so many food blogs around nowadays, it seems a bit boring.

I’ve still got loads of posts about food to write…just got overloaded with seeing all the shitty quality foodblogs and bad pictures of food, kinda demotivated me.

I know mine is still the best 😛 But I don’t like being part of a crowd. Since I got the SLR I don’t take much pictures of food, it’s a bit bulky to carry to dinner.

I need to start pocketing my A70 again and taking some snaps of nice things I eat! The K750 doesn’t really snap great pics indoors.

That’ll give me more stuff to blog about, yay for food.

I wanted to get some more pictures from my phone but for some reason it’s playing up and I can’t detect it, I really need to reformat my PC, it’s getting screwed up…and it’s starting to be a burden using Windows 2000 as some things don’t work (Like Windows Live Messenger..) even though I love it for it’s stability and security. Ah well.

To all the people who suggested topics, thanks some great ideas. Will get round to them 1 by 1, watch this space.

    Phwoar.
    You modesty is astounding.
Haha – nothing wrong with a healthy dose of self confidence though, right?
    🙂

Mmmmm… the steak looks really good.
Is it as good as their KL outlet though?

  2. KY July 27, 2006 at 9:05 am #

    argh haven’t had breakfast.

  3. boo_licious July 27, 2006 at 10:30 am #

The place is really quiet though during the weekends esp during dinner time.

  4. tigerjoe July 27, 2006 at 10:57 am #

Any steak meal under RM 30 nett is good value I reckon.

I just hope the combination of what looks like belacan beans and thousand island in your salad didn’t give you wind. LOL

  5. Jr July 27, 2006 at 11:17 am #

Did you use ur k750 to take this pictures?

  6. James July 27, 2006 at 12:32 pm #

Looks delicious. RM24 isn’t so expensive either. Another good place, but the decor isn’t so great, is the Coliseum on J. Tuanku Abdul Rahman. When you walk in there you can immediately smell the sizzling fat of the steak. I get so hungry, just wish I could afford it.

tiu.. set lunch only available monday to friday?

J: they have an outlet in KL too? where?

  8. J to spiller July 27, 2006 at 1:14 pm #

On the “happening” street: Jalan P. Ramlee.
    Tel: 03-2162 8268
    Business Hrs: Mon-Sun (11am-midnight).

(If I remember, it’s somewhere near the Coffee Bean)

THat picture of the steak really looks like something… else.

  10. spiller July 27, 2006 at 3:58 pm #

oh that one.. used to be a German outlet right?

    thanks J.

  11. ShaolinTiger July 27, 2006 at 4:11 pm #

Yah its the same owner as Deutche Beerhaus, he closed both and opened Maredo’s. This is where DB used to be in Mon’t Kiara, same for P Ramlee.

J: Never been to the KL one sorry. I’m a PJ boy 😉

boo_licious: Yah Mon’t Kiara is busiest in the week, not that many go there in the weekends apart from Sunday for the market.

tigerjoe: Ya I agree, good value for money. Bit of a windy combination, I think my colleagues might have complained.

Jr: Yes these were taken with my K750.

James: Sounds really good, will have to try it out one day.

spiller: Set lunch mon-fri is normal tactics bro.

  14. Irene July 27, 2006 at 9:40 pm #

heh fella with a passion for food. seems that topic comes up pretty often with you. heh. RM24 is not too pricey, reckon it sounds reasonable enough for the quality of the food.

  15. paradoxx July 28, 2006 at 12:20 am #

you do realise what is meant by “rump steak” dont ya..
rump aka fleshy hindquarters of cow aka the buttocks..

so for 24 bucks you cant really say its a steal either..

if you wanna try something authentic look out for the argentian black angus beef..

  16. andy July 28, 2006 at 2:24 am #

Have you tried Gaucho Grill in Chulan Square? They also serve Argentinian steaks…

  18. Terenceg July 28, 2006 at 12:06 pm #

    ARGHH…you BEEFEATER YOU !!!!

  19. Offline Geek July 28, 2006 at 1:48 pm #

You should order one dessert. It completes the whole meal.

  20. ShaolinTiger July 28, 2006 at 3:23 pm #

spike: Yup, real Gaucho food 🙂

Mike: Argentina, should be grass fed bro.

Irene: Yeah you should be able to tell from my blossoming stomach 😉

paradoxx: Yeah man, I know my steaks..I love a bit of ass 🙂 “argentian black angus beef” that’s an irony somewhat, angus cows being from Scotland and all.

CarolineL: Nope, is it worth trying?

Offline Geek: Trying to lose weight la, not gain!

  21. Michael a.k.a. foodcrazee July 28, 2006 at 4:14 pm #

  22. Sher Win July 29, 2006 at 10:46 am #

I think the best steaks I’ve had is from Jake’s, in Medan Damansara.
A little more on the pricier side, but the meats are just fantastic there.

  23. P.y. July 29, 2006 at 2:30 pm #

    Hey,

was googling pan mee to show an american guy and it ended up with your url address.

  24. Chevo July 29, 2006 at 3:37 pm #

    hi ST,

Maredo’s is a huge franchise here in Germany. In Cologne, there are about 4-5 Maredos in the city! The food is ab delish, service is good and it beats the cafe style meat dishes. 🙂

I’m glad to know that Maredos has extended its branch to KL. Hopefully the quality is as high as it is in Germany!

    Chevo

  25. Irene July 30, 2006 at 1:29 pm #

heh too bad i can’t indulge as often that way, a blossoming stomach just does not look good on a chick in the way it makes certain guys sorta…cuddly?

  26. ShaolinTiger July 31, 2006 at 2:45 am #

Mike: Yah I suggest you try it anyway man, worth a shot right.

Sher Win: I don’t mind paying for quality really.

P.y.: Thanks a lot, do drop by more often 🙂

Chevo: Hopefully you can take me to one in Germany one day then I can let everyone know!

Irene: Makes men look oafish I think if it gets too big, need to get back to the gym. Round is not a shape I admire.

For f@*k sake, $24 lunch for 4 quids you tink its “pricey” arh, thats a price of a measly starter in a medium priced resto mate …. wat uu get for 4 squid in da UK, a lousy sandwich + pack of crisp + a soft drink summore eat at your office desk or in da park with the occasional homeless drunk.

R u fm the North? Yorkshire, kar is well known for being tight. PPl there is similar there with penang. Somewhat mean but rich
