Talipon Steamboat Buffet & Grill – Kelana Jaya

I haven’t been to this place for ages, we used to go quite often, and got kind of sick of it, felt like a bit of steamboat and was around the area, so headed off to Talipon.

It’s recommended to go early, about 5.30-6pm when they are just opening for the freshest food and as many prawns as you can eat!

KY went quite recently too.

Talipon

What you get is this, a normal steamboat thing, plus around it a tinfoil part on which you can grill things.

Steamboat

Grab some butter to start up the grilling.

Butter

Then grab all the good stuff!

The beef is ok, a little chewy, the marinated lamb is very good grilled.

Lamb

They have all the normal stuff too like seaweed, tofu skin, mushrooms etc (mushroom are nice grilled or in the soup).

Veges

So fire on some butter and start grilling.

Butter Grill

Yummy beef steak!

My favourite lamb chop!

Then my favourite, prawns!

Get a bowl of chilli sauce, throw the prawns in, splash some beer in and let them marinate for a few minutes, then marinate on the grill with plenty of butter and pour a little of the chili/beer mix over the top while they cook.

Prawns

Perfect

Prawns

Ah, happy times, food and beer!

The soup is delicious once you’ve boiled enough things inside (add some baby corn to make it sweeter).

Eating

The grill ends up looking like this..

Grill

You can ask for some new foil it if gets too black.

Restoran Talipon, I recommend it (remember go early).

Looks great! However, last time when I tried the restaurant, the place was a little dirty.

the fun part is to splash the soup onto the grill so that the butter splatters.

and then when the soup clears up the stuck carbon on the foil, u can drink it all up for mucho healthy goodness…

FireAngel: Yah it is pretty dangerous, I kena a couple of times.

KY: Yah I was gonna mention it in my post, I miss that place, high time we go there.

Neo: It’s not greatly clean, it’s a car park in the day, but the food part is clean enough.

Matthew: Yah I’ve seen that one too, haven’t tried it before though, I imagine it’s much the same.

    Ben L: $18.50

Hijackqueen: Yah full buffet, eat as much as you like, unlimited. Just pay for drinks is extra from next door. You have to pay for wastage tho.
